That award was the worst thing that happened to us.

We were no angels in 2003 either, yet that award seems to get brought up every time something happens. It's like all of a sudden we have some mythical moral barometer to live up to.

Aye,that was back when the 'IRA add-ons' were louder than ever before.

The game at Ewood park was a reb-fest and there was a spot of crowd trouble, but we were still declared the best support in the world because of our conduct throughout that campaign :smiley-laughing002:

These over-the-top reactions to anything deemed 'offensive',especially among own fans, are a fairly new phenomenon, and the complaints are almost exclusively confined to the internet.

I had an American lad come up to me today in Japan, while I was wearing my Celtic top, and told me how much he respected what the Celtic fans did with the Palestine flags.
Good to see our message is being noticed around the world :50:

so Uefa charge us and Police say we did not break the law.

CELTIC fans who flew Palestine flags during the Euro clash with Israeli rivals did not break the law, cops said yesterday.

Officers trawled CCTV after hundreds in the Parkhead crowd waved the colours of the Middle Eastern region during the protest.

Police ruled the display at the crunch tie with Hapoel Be’er Sheva was “not considered criminal”.

But the Hoops still face a big fine or stand closure for breaching strict Uefa rules on political demos. We told how fans had been warned not to taunt the Hapoel following at the Champions League qualifier.

But the pleas were ignored in the safe-standing area.

A rally against the Israeli government was also staged outside the ground.

The Green Brigade display split the Bhoys support. One life-long fan described them online as “insufferable”.

But Gerard Marshall, 43, said: “Israel are bombing Palestine and we’re just showing them support.”

Maybe people will think again in future ?
The demonstration outside the stadium was brilliant bit I did not agree with the flag waving inside the stadium .

Aye maybe. That certainly seems to be what has happened the previous 8 times we have been sanctioned by them.

I would love to know what the flag waving achieved. Was it to show support for fatah and the PLO or the islamic Hamas? Was it against violence in the Gaza strip or plantations on the west bank? Hapoel are close to the Gaza strip were Hamas rule so was it aimed at them? Anyways we were told dont do it- you will receive sanctions. So now we did it and face sanctions we cry uefa are *. It achieved nothing except to draw attention to ourselves.
