Why does paying to promote your politics make it any better but?

It's different because this particular political party want politics and football to be separate but are happy to promote themselves at football grounds. Which is silly.

 

I never said it was any better, I just pointed out that they've paid for the advertising space like any other company would.

I don't think many clubs in Scotland are in a position to knock back a paying advertiser on the basis that football shouldn't be mixed with politics.

 

Is Stranraer a big SNP town? I kinda gathered that maybe the chairman had connections or the supporters were all SNP supporters or some * :smiley-laughing002:.

 

There are few places in Scotland that aren't big SNP towns these days!

Don't they have advertising at places like Motherwell & Kilmarnock as well?

 

The football clubs aren't to blame, the SNP are the ones being hypocrites.

They are probably ignorant to it as well.

 

Of course they aren't, they know exactly what they're doing. They have money to spend on advertising and they know that a good chunk of their target audience attend football.

It's simple and effective advertising really.

 

That's not what I'm saying. They'll know why they're doing it from a promotional point of view but they'll probably be ignorant to the fact it's so hypocritical.

Many clubs in Scotland aren't in a position to knock back paying customers either. Customers- who I'm sure these clubs are aware- express their politics everywhere they go.

 

That in this case the SNP are a paying client. I'm just clarifying that.

You think so? Most politicians and political parties know fine well that they are hypocritical. A lot of the political world is based on hypocrisy and lies, after all.

 

I'd give them the benefit of doubt and say I doubt it will have crossed many of their minds.

 

And the Celtic supporters, who have expressed their politics since the club was formed, are paying customers.

I must be misunderstanding the point you've tried to make.

Just to be clear, you're not possibly trying to say that a political party which campaigns to keep politics out of football, while advertising their party at football grounds, isn't being any less 'political' because they happen to have paid for a billboard... are you?

 

Indeed they are, but if it becomes less financially prudent to allow them to continue expressing those politics inside the ground then we'll see those times change.

My point is quite simple to be honest. The SNP are a paying advertiser in that case, they're paying for their advertisement.

Is it hypocritical? A case of double-standards? Of course it is, but that's politics for you, isn't it?

It's called being smart in a political sense.

Could be. Its not like anything will happen anyway its a class system, there are some within the support who hold the belief that begging for permission for flares is an alternative when other leagues in Europe use them week in week out.
