I've always been critical with the likes of Brown and McGeady in our team but what i've seen of murphy in the past I always thought he was a decent player. He's a tough guy with a good left foot as far as I remember. I know he's not going to be outstanding for us but he's a decent player who Roy Keane rates highly - that's good enough for me!

Maybe not mate, maybe Lenny just likes plenty of options upfront, Murphy was played out wide alot for Sunderland, he is more effective as a winger imo. Maybe Murphy was brought in just for that reason to be a winger, I also want a change of formation, the 4-4-2 simply hasnt been working for us

It could be a 4-3-3, with Murphy as Left Forward.

Well you may have seen more of his performances than me but from what I saw I thought he looked good. Hopefully playing for a big club may spur him on to better things :50:

I agree but Maloney, McGeady (if he's still here), McGinn, Fortune (I think his best pos is right forward but can play on left too and as winger), Ledley and McCourt all are comfortable on the wing so Murphy is just adding quanities where its not required. In addition NL says Murphy can take the hits for us - I presume this is a clear indicatot that he was bought as a target man through the centre.

I wish him all the best and hope his signing turns out to be a success but I've always thought he was absolutely hopeless.

Could be. But I'd imagine he'd be drifting left, just off the shoulder of the main striker and looking for the diagonal ball to knock down. Maybe with a winger (Maloney?) out on the right.

gravesen, Juninho, Kanchelskis ,flo.....the list is endless, these guy's were meant to be quality and were * so give the guy a chance past records don't mean much in football, i think he'll do a good job for us and i'd imagine there will be another striker signed. Murphy has very rarely been played as a CF so get behind him and see what happens, everybody deserves there chance and if lennon see's something in him thats good enough for me

hail hail welcome to celtic big man

sorry this is a huge mistake, if he did cost 1.5 million, the lad isn't a prolific striker, looks to be a big target man, who will specialize in knock downs.

are striking options are very poor, should have kept the money and brought thru one of the kids.

    would have prefered Stokes

Another big lump that dont score goals, thought we already had 2 of them in fortune and sammy. Cant see the wisdom of this whatsoever, we're crying out for a goalscorer and that he aint. I have seen a lot of him, being Irish and the guy is complete and utter garbage. In Lenny I dont thrust.
