We seem to be slow off the mark these days, Lawell played his game & lost to Advoccate - but if we'd have bid at the beginning - then it COULD (subjective) have been finalised for an affordable fee, before Zenit ever got involved.

What happened to Evans or the young Chelski striker?

We seem to identify players, but it gets no further these days - ok Flood & some young un's.

If we dilly dally with transfers, then when the likes of Zenit come in I agree, we don't stand a chance - that's why we have to strike when the irons hot.

Lawell takes too long, cause he wants the best deal - but we will never know what that is, especially if we never get any identified targets.

If we lose the league, this could have made the difference.

Or he may have been * for us, we'll never know.

We might win the league without him & strengthen in the summer, we are in the dark & to a large extent so are the management team, cos they don't know either.

Have I taken it all in though? How does talking about player investment instantly mean that I'm taking it all in??

Once again, you put 2 and together and are getting 5. Stop making assumption on things that arent being said or talked about, ffs

i said ""ok so we cant find any players out of hundreds of thousands to fit this criteria"",,this does'nt suggest there is hundreds of thousands of players out there better than what we have,,it does suggest there is hundreds of thousands of players out there to choose from....

another pointless post from you and it borders on childish.......

We can see the interim result and annual reports, what other information do you expect Celtic to publish without handicapping themselves in market?

I would like to think that Strachan and co are keep up to date with information that will never see the light of day in the public eye because of confidentiality agreements and the laws around trade secrets.

Over years ago, Celtic changed their business model because they forecast the downturn of the SPL and the problems with competing with bigger leagues otherwise we would have continued using debt to fund investment and offloading an asset to manage the debt, just like Rangers did.

The global recession further cements the fact that their business model was, without doubt, the best way forward and they have gotten * all credit from fans for it despite the stick they took at the time for it and continue to this day and in this thread for it.

Our forecast has been on the money and Rangers risks didnt pay off and they are struggling and if we win the league this season, you'll the problems at Rangers manifest themselves more severely.

In hindsight, Celtic have an accurate forecast of what was going to happen to us, I'd bet big on them having a good idea of whats going to happen over the next couple of seasons too and I'm willing to back their plan as they have been right so far.

If and when they judge it badly we should be giving them a hard time not when they are predicting things accurately long before they are happening and adjusting now for those times

Why is everything outside of this thread invalid. This thread has descended into a recap of the January transfer window despite the report reflects 6 months.

Yes, I do agree with their assessment of the facts and the fact that they arent willing to take financial risks point to a bleek future. People are in denial about the current scenario so how could they be realistic about the future?

As I said, they have gotten it spot on for several years now, their performances for Celtic is world class and that is reflected in the approach by Arsenal for Lawwell. What has happened that affects Celtic that should make them change their approach?

A basic premise of adding to your squad is that you improve or strengthen the existing team of players.
So Dempsey was quite correct in posting his response

If we lose the league, this could have made the difference. The lack of strengthening the squad, Huszti in particular.

Or he may have been * for us, we'll never know. Huszti, couldv'e flopped ala Gravesen.

We might win the league without him & strengthen in the summer, we are in the dark & to a large extent so are the management team, cos they don't know either.

You only highlighted this bit & kinda took me the wrong way, I'm not expecting them to leak info or anything.

Lawell is doing a good job, I like him & haven't criticised him, although this time it's a gamble & we'll have to wait & see - that's where both them & us are in the dark.

It's a gamble because we haven't looked convincing in about 2 months & the SPL title is by no ways ours by right, we only just scraped it last season & this season we have made no significant strides to rectifying the same problem as last year.

Statistically there are thousands upon thousands of players out there better than the players we have at our disposal, none of our squad are actually world beaters, infact if our squad is that good why have none of the epl teams come in and offered 8 or so million???? its peanutts to them anyways and we would byte there hands of if offered decent money these days:86:

How about you prove that statistic someway otherwise its nonsense to try to make it out into a statistic

Our best assets are on long term contracts and we arent interested in selling nor is there a financial need to sell. EPL clubs have no leverage on any of our players

Maybe its about time you faced up to reality instead of living in cuckoo land
