And also I’d like to argue sky done this with rugby super league gave them a deal on par with spfl at the time or as close as and when it came to a new deal they halved it because they didn’t get the crowders they thought they would have got … same thing will happen with wsl

To those of you wondering why the cash balance doesn’t quite tie with the accounting profit. Main reason is accounts are accruals based vs cash in bank being an actual reflection of cash basis.

You can sit with a really high receivable balance on the balance sheet but if that trickles in slowly over many years (think the Huns and paying 1m over 10 years) your cash balance won’t rise especially if your payables terms are more onerous. Net effect is negative outgoing in cash.

Additionally I understand some UEFA money is not actually paid until end of season. In the accounts that’s already accrued for as revenue but from a physical cash perspective it’s not been received yet.

That’s why total revenue or profit in the second half of the year will be smaller than first 6 months as most of it is already accrued, but that doesn’t mean the cash balance will also fall in line with this decrease.

The woman's game though definitely has a larger coordinated push by all media outlets, sky, bbc, guardian etc so it'll be interesting to see.

    From Football Insider:

Kieran Maguire reveals £10m Celtic advantage over Rangers after fan outrage

Celtic are “underperforming” this season as they boast a £10million advantage over arch-rivals Rangers when it comes to total squad cost.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic also spend more on their wage bill compared to their Glasgow rivals.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been leapfrogged by their rivals in the league table with Rangers now two points clear at the top.

Celtic fans on social media are unhappy with club chairman Peter Lawwell for his comments about a lack of transfer activity in the recent annual general meeting, with some supporters calling him a ‘blatant liar’

Celtic announced a profit of £40million in their 2022-23 accounts with £67million in the bank, but Lawwell insisted that transfer targets were not available in the January transfer window.

Maguire argued that Celtic’s issues this season are not financial as they already boast a huge advantage over other Scottish clubs.

Celtic are “underperforming” as £10m advantage over Rangers revealed
There is an argument for Celtic to invest more if they are behind Rangers in the table,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

They have always operated very prudently and if we take a look at the 2022-23 season, they had over 50 percent of the total cost of all squads in the Scottish Premiership.

Now if they can’t win the league when they have that financial advantage and they’re generating more money than their rivals then I think things are not necessarily wrong from a financial point of view.

Either Celtic are underperforming or Rangers are over-performing in order for that to be the case.

Celtic are financially ahead of Rangers and therefore that should give them an advantage because we know that in terms of wages, their wage bill is 20 percent more than Rangers.

Their squad cost is also £10million more than Rangers, which is huge and a lot of money in the Scottish market.

Spending 20% more on our wage bill and £10m overall on the squad either says we've an overbloated squad, our players are overpaid or Rodgers is not able to fulfill the potential of the squad.

We made champions league and they never. Both clubs wages increase massively when in that competition. Its in the players contracts. You'll find our wage bill is probably less than them when not in the champions league. So that's nonsense. We are acrually underspending.

It's pretty close all round if you compare both sides of the city and whether we are underperforming v them or not.
But its also not the standard we should be measuring ourselves against.
On a European basis, v comparable and financially weaker clubs we have been and are massively underperforming.
