    Mind it wasnt just Larsson who was injured at the time either, Lambert missed a couple of month and Stubbs had the ball removed that season and Wieghorst missed near half the season, plus Tommy Johnson and Tom Boyd missed the majority of the season.

    If everyone was fit most of the season the team could have been

    Gould
    McNamara Mjallby Stubbs Boyd
    Berkovic Lambert Wieghorst Moravcik
    Larsson Viduka

    Quite a solid team.

    Instead there was a lot of disruption with McNamara, Tebily and Mahe playing left-back at times, Mjallby, Riseth and Healy playing a lot in midfield, Petrov playing right-back, Viduka playing with a different player every week Burchill, Johnson and Wright.

    Only 9 players managed to start half the games that season. 39 different players played, probably the most ever in a season - a lot probably totally forgotten Fenando De Orneleas, John Convery, Ryan McCann, Brian McColligan, Simon Lynch, Paul Shields, Jim Goodwin, Mark Fotheringham plus Stephen Crainey, John Kennedy and Liam Miller made their debuts that season. Lubo who was 34 played the most games 40.

    Interesting mate, I don't remember these things that far back. :smiley-laughing002:

    Petrov at RB still haunts me, to think he was very close to chucking it in. I'm sure we brought in liason PR type people to help players settle after the Petrov nonsense where he was left alone in his hotel room after moving here as teenager.
