Get the UV lamps on it for a start.

 

Like the teams displays, it's pretty gruesome.

 

Pitch is horrendous and playing a bit part in the poor performances

 

Worse than a tattie field.

 

The pitch is an issue and even more so for the football we are playing. We are playing a patient passing game and the pitch isn't lending itself to a passing game right now.

That being said, it really doesn't excuse yesterday's performance. We should have had that game done and dusted in the first 45 minutes

The pitch is a visible example of Peter Lawwells ineptitude, and sums up his stewardship of the club. Fergus McCann came in when we were skint, he and his CEO Allan Macdonald set about raising the cash needed to demolish and completely rebuild the stadium.....DONE ! They also transformed the team on the pitch to halt the Huns seemingly unstoppable run towards 10 in a row....... DONE.! 5 years later we had a brand new stadium, had halted the Huns dominance, and were set on a path that had remarkably flipped the Ballance of power in Scotland 180°, we now had the Huns at a financial disadvantage and we've dominated them every since. A truly wonderful piece of work by everyone involved !!! Fergus left and Dermot Desmond became our largest shareholder, we had increased our turnover by something close to ×5 and were happy to invest heavily on the squad, done a treble in 2000/01 (?) and reached a European final a couple of years later..............then Peter Lawwell appeared. Martin O'Neil heralded his arrival by telling us "welcome to the slow lane".

In the 20 years since..... All the tenements around the stadium have been demolished and new houses built, the School has been knocked down and cleared, the old railway embankment has been excavated and removed, the Emirates Arena has been built across the road, the Forge has been demolished and an entire Shopping Mall has been built, tarmac and paved parking areas have been built at both venues, a new railway station has been built down the road at Dalmarnock, a brand new dual carriageway has been built from scratch right outside the ground, Hibs have built a new stadium, Hearts have built a new stadium, the Huns have filled in the corners adding extra capacity and a new club store and hospitality, the Huns have knocked down and rebuilt Edminston House, the Huns have added additional seats to the top tier of the Govan stand, the Huns have upgraded all their catering/restaurants and created a new players lounge...etc etc, enough about the stinking Huns, but you get my drift...........

Meanwhile at Celtic Park during the same period under Peter's stewardship, at the biggest and most wealthy club in the country....... We've been parking at the Forge and the Emirates because the stadium parking and coach park have been a mixture of gravel, mud, and puddles. The Main Stand has hardly seen a lick of paint never mind major upgrades, we're still talking about museums and hotels, we're still talking about Barrowfield, we're still talking about a full-size indoor pitch (?), we've tarted up the Celtic Way largely because of a commonwealth games windfall, we've created a (smallish) sports bar but not really improved or upgraded the rest of the corporate facilities, we've no ticket exchange, we've got a cheap garbage TV channel, we've got a tent in the carpark for hospitality at European games, we've got rows of empty seats because we haven't addressed the requirement of 1m tall vertical trackside advertising at European games, we've got pretty much the same catering options we had back in the jungle days, we've had pretty much two entire decades of European humiliation interspersed with the odd decent result, we've had lazy tuppence ha'penny sponsorship deals with local companies, we've had stupid tours that were focused on money rather than squad development, we've had nepotism, old pals acts, repeated failure to qualify for Champions League, repeated failure in the transfer market due to penny pinching and dragging our heels, we've had year on year downgrading of everything at the club EXCEPT Peter Lawwells renumeration package.......

Has the last 20 years been a nightmare for Celtic supporters ?!?...... Absolutely not, we've seen the death of the Huns and us subsequently dominating the domestic set-up, it's been a blast in that respect. But we've done that DESPITE Peter Lawwell, not BECAUSE of him, he has been an anchor around the neck of Celtic, he has failed miserably to expand and grow Celtic throughout this period of domestic dominance, he has failed to capitalise and fully press home our financial advantages, he has failed to sell the club to global sponsors, he has failed to invest and grow our academy set-up, failed (overseen the dismantling) to improve and expand the scouting network, failed to press for much needed change in how Scottish football is run, the death of the Huns was the Idea opportunity for a shake-up, but he was more concerned with reviving some form of Hun team to get the old band together again.

Lol.......my girlfriend has just told me I need to get ready. That'll have to do me for now, but yeah.....the pitch ?!? It'll probably have cost an extra £300,000 to get it done to the highest standard, but Peter would have struck a deal and got it done a bit cheaper.. guys a * cancer to Celtic.

I'm away for Sunday lunch in a bad mood now.

 

Watching the Man Utd game and Newport have a better pitch than us embarrassing

Mind Brendan requested a new hybrid pitch and we got it. Then no long after he said it had a disease, whatever that means
