    When Samaras was here the situation was still the same. We still needed a physical penalty box presence who can lead the line. Samaras ran the channels and was often absent in the box where we needed a poacher. Hooper gave us that.

    It underlines the sorry state of our current situation that thoughts are being turned to Samaras again, as too seldom did he produce.

    McGeady played 45 minutes against Barnsley on Wednesday and was hauled off at half time, not even in the squad today vs Spurs. The bench contains about 3 youth players..

    Anyone think this will happen? He won't get a kick this season with Deulofeu and Mirallas ahead of him.

    Think about the physicality he brought to the Champions League Games though, and the spark he could give the whole team. We dont have that up front. We should have kept him.

    nothing of note will happen, maybe a signing or two but nothing that will set pulses racing, defence is key to this season, because in my opinion rest of the team has options..

    We also need a centre forward Skepovic on his way out, Stokes ain't a centre forward if he even stays, leaves us with Griff, who has been excellent to be fair and Ciftci who is a bit worrying

    We need a striker for Europe, Griff will get us 30+ this season Cifti will eventually chip in with 20ish if he stays fit and on the pitch, but they ain't going to cut it in Europe not against Ajax or Fenabache especially as a lone striker we need a player that can lead the line hold the ball bring the midfielders in and can * score.

    Im thinking about that physicality pal.. And then im thinking we need a penalty box striker more.
    I didnt think Samaras made the most of his height.
    Id say we were right to let him go due to his inconsistancy but we havnt bought well in the forward areas. We miss hooper more.
