Done my best to stay away from this thread cause i really can't figure my opinion on it TBH .

I'm just going to sit back relax and see what happens cause we're in the middle of a season and we really don't need this distraction .

it wont! it will take about 3-4 years at least to make the league move forward after the revamp.so it can be done? just too many lazy arseholes who just want to jump ship instead of looking after what should be looked after! our footballing heritage!

just watching there on sky sports that all the teams combined in the epl are approximately 2.8 billion yes BILLION in debt! with the wages for players alone going up to 1 billion! do you really want to go down there fall in with the most obscene debt going and be worse than we are for debt when we almost went to the wall in the 90`s?

ill say it again this talk about the epl wanting or thinking about an epl 2 and inviteing celtic and the huns down tells me what iv already had a feeling about! that they are almost in dire straights with the debt as iv already stated and also been mentioned onssn this morning! hence the reason they might want us to go down there and help them out financialy and basically and maybe even help them get more money out of sky because they now know themselves that their honeymoon period is well and truly over and now they are staring at financial meltdown ? especially if?sky cuts their next contract offer.

Forget the EPL. We just need to get the SPL back to the level it was at in the 80s when 4 different clubs won it in one decade, another couple came very close and Scottish teams got to 2 European finals, all in the space of a decade. The truth of the matter is all this success came from a levelled playing field where the OF spend periods with much reduced gates and the rest kind of caught up.

The only way I can ever see things being evened out is if the SFA insist that the away teams get a considerable share (maybe 25%) of gate takings. Think that was once the set up anyway. That would make us poorer but it would spread the money and make the SPL a better competition. We are victims of a sort of drift towards the OF by glory seekers in the last 20 years. I know for a fact that in the north-east you were hard pressed to find 2 OF supporters in a class of 30 pupils in the 70s and 80s but now its pretty common.

Which is down to the presence of so many wealthy sugar-daddys using the EPL as a plaything/money tree. We are a PLC, and steps are in place to ensure we remain self-sufficient and not dependent on a wealthy backer.

There is no reason ever given as to why we'd end up squillions in debt. It's nothing more than fear mongering by the unambitious and those who are scared of change.

The whole charity and socialism ethos peddled by the club and supporters respectively does not tally well with the may some supporters and the club now clearly think in terms of 'product' etc and our concern about community and tradition is so great we are willing to up sticks and abandon country for money and glory. How people tally joining the English league with all the republican stuff they spout is totally beyond me but the human mind can just about justify anything to itself. I really think SKY, EPL and CL has turned many supporters minds.

We are a club that represents itself, Glasgow, Scotland, Irish and Scottish roots, community mindedness charity, humanitarism, often left leaning politics and meana this to others across the world with an affinity to the club and these identities. To move into England to an ultra-capitalist league for more money to improve our 'product' and 'market position' is hardly compatible with most of these virtues our club hold dear. Even the common use of * terms like 'product' to describe us shows how much we have become thatchers children. Maggie Thatcher -'There is no such thing as community'.

Or just naive. It will take at least 20 years to turn the SPL into at least an average League, and that is time we do not have. The EPL is pulling away from the rest of the continent, and fast. If you think we will ever manage to turn the SPL into something that will rival it you're kidding yourself on.

It isn't coming. The EPL reached record levels of spending ths summer, while SKY made profits and ESPN made it's first inroads.

Scottish football, however, is nearing financial collapse - for the second time this decade - due to decreasing levels of attendances, TV rights, sponsorship, and money from European and International involvement.

We have potential enough to turn the Big 4 into the Big 5. It would be madness to ignore that and think it best to remain here, were we can slide further and further into oblivion with the rest of them.

And without success on and off the park that'll slide into the shadows along with Celtic and the SPL.

Barcelona give to charity, wear UNICEF on their shirts, stand for an oppressed minority and don't mind telling you about it. But they don't half have the money to make that a success.

Celtic was founded to serve its community through football. It cannot serve its community through negligence.

The EPL really has tuned peoples heads. In an independent Scotland I would block all English football and stop this silly drooling over the fence. :icon_mrgreen: When all you saw was half an hour of highlights on a Saturday night after Sportscene you never got all this envy.

i think alot of the posts that are for "staying in scotland", sound alot like they are scared of moving out because they will lose the 50% chance of success, and this might be a bit harsh, but sound as if they only support celtic because celtic win.

not saying all post's are like that, just some.

I've read a few comments on here and elsewhere regarding ticket prices being pumped up when the old firm is in town.

I noticed one example was that you were charged £26/27 for an away day at Falkirk (or similar), and the club had left their regular signs up saying £17 entry.

Do you honestly think this will be any different in England? If you can fill an away section, your likely going to be charged an awful lot everywhere - I'd suggest MINIMUM £30 for an away fan of a well supported club at most grounds, closer to £45 at a lot. With the Irish support you have coming over I suspect every club in the midlands/north would charge you as catagory A.

Rangers fans, on the other hand, may not get charged so much, especially in the midlands/south.
