Fair points Aussie. But it is a Scottish problem and should be solved in Scotland.

You're right there, mate. But, I don't think that would be a major concern of the board.

Lawell is * creaming his knickers at the hope of lauding about at the big table.

I'm against chasing the money, look at Newcastle & Leeds - once good working class clubs, they sold out to the money men & splashed far too much cash on *.

I'm against Caldwell getting 20k per week, not just in the SPL - but in life in gerneral. John Terry is on about 120k per week and it makes me weep.

    EPL can go & * it's own rancid * & suck my * while it's at it.

Peter Lawell used to have my respect, he's showing himself up to be just another money orientated, havana cigar, fine claret with pheasant lick spittal. Get to * away from my club ya stuck up, social climbing wannabe.

    Ahhhhhhh...that's better.

I dont like the way the club is making us look like beggars trying to get into the EPL.

Theres good points for and against this move but IF ever offered I think it would be the right thing by the club to have a vote to decide to accept it. I would be fairly confident it would pass in favour of joining but at least noone could blame the club for selling us down the river and would be the fairest way to represent the fans as they like to claim.

I think all season ticket holders should get 1 vote. All votes are the same whether youve had it 1 year, 3 years or 5 years and if you gave it up 2 years ago you are still entitled to a vote, anyone whos ever owned a season ticket in the last such and such years should be entitled a vote. it simpossible to give every celtic fan a vote, this is the fairest I reckon.

At least then whatever happens is voted by the fans and no complaints can be made about the powers that be, in fairness the fans should have just as much a say in the decision than the board who will obviously accept it in a heartbeat. Weve been here before them and well be here after them.

To be fair this is exactly Peter Lawwells job, and rate these in whatever preference you might have:

    1) Raise more money for the club (yup, that's a chief executive)
    2) Enable the club to compete at the top

This is football - a COMPETITIVE environment where we should be playing and beating the best. If you prefer stomping all over Hamilton Accies and letting Barcelona stomp all over us year in year out then fair do's your conscience is clear. But it is the boards job to continually raise our income and performance and this mooted move to the EPL is doing that.

P.s. it would be nice to get all romantic and speak of the rest of the SPL's ill-conceived dependancy on us but romanticism died a long time ago in Scottish and World fooball.

Forget the * Premiership..Aye as much as i would love to play against the Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool etc...It Simply ain't going to happen...

The likes of SKY & ESPN will continue to pump more money into england, and give less and less money to scotland...

We're only in this situation because the other 9 SPL Clubs got gready When Setanta offered £135mil, when Celtic, Rangers & Aberdeen all voted for the £100mill contract from Sky.

What needs to be done now is a major and i mean a * MAJOR Shake up in the game here in Scotland.

Combine the SFA, SFL & SPL into ONE Govening Body. Re-format all the leagues and have a pyramid system set up that works in England...It gets rid of the stale clubs and allows freash clubs to move up.

What also needs to be done is don't bother looking for TV Companies to offer TV Contracts to our game...Do a system that works in Holland, where they have their own TV Channel and And every penny from the channel gets pumped back into the country...

For example say we did launch SPL TV and got the 1.4million subcribers Setanta had before going bust. And charged £7 a month, Thats Almost £118million a year - overheads. That a * of a lot more cash than what Scottish football currently Gets!!

if we did get invited that wouldn't happen as the board basicly don't care about us no more, if they got invited they would go for the money not the fans! :38:

People say the SPL is just a 2 horse race, looks to me like the EPL is twice the size and its a 4 horse race .. so waste of time imo, id rather we improved our own league instead of abandon it.

all this * talking about the epl! beat it ffs. why does everyone want to suck english ends with regards to this shower of pish? that league isnt the be all and end all of football you know! and besides what say if sky wer to turn around in the next contract offer to the epl and say" we are going to half the money we have been giving you so this next offer is going to be 540 million?

i can guarentee you that english clubs will be * as they need as much money as possible to keep giving the average and decent top dollar to go to their league! cos i beleive all this * we here from playeres saying iv always wanted to play in the epl? (ha bollocks) they want to get there as they know they will receive astranomical amount in wages and stay there a couple of seasons at least.

we should be talking about the re-vamp of scottish football from grass roots level to the international set up! fix what is begging to be fixed and change the league set up and bring a more exciteing league to scotland!

why are we at the stage we are at? i beleive it all falls on the muppets who think they are running a good show at the sfa tbh? half of them havent a * clue that its needing sorted! * a blind man could see this! their arogance and ineptability to listen to fans trying to tell them that the league is stale always falls on deaf ears and * me the * off! we need to get this up and running and weed out the fuds who are holding scottish football back! we need to get with the times here ladies and gentlemen!

have a league and cup set up similar or on a par like the english league with more than one team comming up and down! and get a play off final in too at hampden to get even more excitement into the scottish set up! and of course along with other drastic changes of course! if we want to make decent money to compete then we must give the sponsors something to run with.

this talk of the epl ! * off im fed up with listening to the * . if we do not sort what is desperate! then scottish football wil die here! and i do not want to see scottish football that has been going on for way over a centuary die because clowns who make big money wont make the changes to save one of the oldest footballing countries in the world.

I think i move to the EPL would be a blessing. It would provide more media coverage, bring money into the club, and also bring in competition. I love the spl but i dont see why anyone would not like their club to move on to better things and more competition. Our only competition is Rangers. The rest of the league is terrible and if the old firm moves to epl it would provide the spl with more excitment and a better chance for the smaller clubs to rise up and take a title. i just want the best for the club and the best thing would be the move to the EPL

this is a pet hate of mine; the smaller clubs always moaning that they cant do anything because of the old firm or just the general lack of ambition by scottish clubs as a whole.

why shouldnt the like of aberdeen, hearts, hibs, dundee unt not aim for the title? they always give us good games and i reckon its the typical pessimistic scottish culture that keep these clubs from ever challenging. i understand they dont have the same resources as Celtic and Rangers but money doesnt always mean success!!!

of course i want to see us win the league every year if we can but it would be better for the league as a whole if these smaller clubs got the old firm chip off their shoulder and actually had a bit of ambiton!

as for us in the epl? theres a lot of good reasons for it; more money, better players, true worldwide exposure but would it be the same as supporting celtic now? i have my doubts and unusually for someone as unpatriotic as me i actually take pride that we are such a relatively well known club despite playing in scotland! we would be selling our soul for cold hard money which wont last forever by the way; the epl bubble WILL burst someday; look at portsmouth just narrowly avoiding administration; you can bet you life that they are not the only EPL club living outside their means!

a PLC would not last 2 mins in the EPL. REGARDLESS of what you think of our board, our fan base, our ability to draw players in or our history.

Amalgamation in Scotland could be the way forward and it would make it a far harder league or leagues but its getting teams to join forces and that itself would be a hard thing to do ,but through time i think it would pay off and this league would be better for it ,thoughts.

No offence mate, but I don't want your sons and grandsons playing for Celtic. :bbpd:

I would rather have decent players, perhaps the EPL can finally bring us that. Still somewhat of a pipe dream though I think.

Why not mate? What do you have against them?

My 8 year old is the best player at his age about these parts and can only get better through time and the right guidance. He's used to playing with his big brother and his pals who are a couple of year older yet he holds his own and has plenty skill and can shoot well with both feet. He loves the celtic too and idolises McGeady.

Why would you not want to see a young talent like that come through the ranks at Celtic? :97:
