Great news. Santos have got a few good players like Chucho Benitez who was at Birmingham last year. I think this is the best thing for us to do.

A very good thing. Upping the clubs profile in Mexico is great.

We have a few Mexican lads on here & they know their stuff & (IMO) are really good contributors to the site. Juarez is obviously an instant hit with the fans & seems to have taken to the club like a duck to water.

The fact that Santos have the hoops is another plus, I think it's a great idea.

Dont see the point, no way we will get work permits for any mexican player unless they are established internationals, so completely pointless.

Unless they already have a European passport or have sufficient enough talent. Mizuno managed to get one on this basis as well as Jelavic.

I would love to send some of our youngsters to the Mexican League for a couple of seasons. Would undoubtadly improve there technique.

Hope this is more solid than link in 2007 with Belgian Club, KV Oostende, or last year with Hungarian side Ujpest Doza, both of which came to nothing. Then, as now, big fanfare that in the end amounted to nothing - nada.
Somehow cannot see freckly faced, fair skinned West of Scotland laddies going from the tropical heat of a Scottish Summer, 60* to the swelter of +90* in Mexico - unless of course Peter is going to announce that our next link up will be with Ambre Solaire.

I don't understand, what is the big deal about work permits? Why would the players be refused them?

same could be said about anyone coming to scotland and the country they are coming from is alot hotter

but i take it with your post that people can't get used to the climate.....

if that was the case then no-one would travel or move to an other country......

also to your point with the other 2 clubs, not big clubs are they santos are a very big club and look at the size of mexico and how many people live there aswell.....

but hey lets all knock it before it's even got running

Don't worry, Santos Laguna has almost no quality mexicans, they are buyers, southamerican mainly. So if you get any players they will be quality southamerican (mainly Ecuador and Colombia).

You should worry if they made an agreement with Atlas, UNAM or Guadalajara... those teams are the owners of young mexican talent.

Gustavo Ruelas, a U20 player for the USMNT who played in the Milk Cup, was loaned to Celtic by Santos Laguna.
