I agree with 80% on here and that's why i class nakamura in the category of a celtic legend he was a class above the rest and imo single handedly won us a league through assists and free kicks he also had a decent goal return its a pity his engine didn't match his technical skills but 3 moments of magic put him in the celtic folklore the freekicks against Man Utd and the greatest keeper in the world at that time and his screamer against the huns is the second best hun skelping goal i have seen

Seen Samaras being called a Celtic "legend" on the first page.

    I despair......

Don't think he's quite there yet, if he lifts the treble this season he probably will be though.

    Here's one, Lambert?

I think for people like me who weren't lucky enough to see the likes of him play have a different view on what where told or just looking back at this achievements he was are captain and a very important player in one of are best periods in History so looking back at it from a historical view I'd probably say yea but people who seen him in the flesh and remember his bad games mistakes ect would probably say no ( personally I'd call the likes of him Lenny Lubo ect legends but I'd call the tullys's Mcstays ect as Greats/Icons)

He was legendary though .. consistently inconsistent legendary.

Lambert made few mistakes. He also played in the 10 stopping team.
This still gets the hairs standing on the back on my neck

Any Celtic player who has scored more than 100 goals for us is a Celtic Legend.
Plus the remainder of Lisbon Lions.
Naka deserves it because he scored the injury time goal in 2006-2007 season against Kilmarnock that won us the title that season.
Also his 30yrd free kick against the Mancs that helped us progress to Knockout stages in Champions League.

There is also one person who never played for us he is the definitive Celtic Legend.
    Brother Walfrid.

None of our current players, or manager, is quite a legend yet.
But plenty of candidates, if they stay here long enough.

Good to see the Lambert goal again, was sitting in the stand behind the goal and had a great view of the ball go in

Think Scott Brown could achieve legendary status if he sees out his career here. Purely based on the amount of trophies he lifted, his longevity and his character. How many Celtic players have such a distinct goal celebration?

Lambert was a proper footballer. I was too young to properly appreciate his quality at the time (he joined when I was about 9), but he read the game well and kept his own game very simple.

He and Neil Lennon were the backbone on which the O'Neill team was built. They protected the 3 man defence and allowed Petrov the license to get forward, as well as the wing-backs.

Edit: Sorry to say, but Martin Tyler's commentary on that goal probably outdoes Archie. Fantastic striker, nonetheless.

Modern Celtic Legends for me since I started following in early 1997 would be.

    Wim Jansen
    Henrik Larsson
    Lubo Moravcik
    Martin O'Neil
    Chris Sutton
    John Hartson
    Stan Petrov
    Paul Lambert
    Neil Lennon
    Alan Thompson
    Artur Boruc
    Shunsuke Nakamura
Scott Brown, maybe not just yet but he will be by the time he retires.

are they as good as the old legends, I don't know, I can only go with word of mouth and old highlights which really only show us the best bits like the goals, I'm sure there was plenty of times when old legends that everyone loves had bad games.

No. Only one on that list who is up there with the Lisbon Lions is Henrik Larsson. Lennon is close, but I'm not sure he's in that category. The rest are good/great Celtic players who will be remembered fondly.

Considering we have been going for over 125 years how come most of our legends are within a relatively small time period near the end of our history. Also at a time when haven't achieved much???

Really can't get my head round the

    "MODERN CELTIC LEGENDS" .
They either are or aren't Celtic legends,
& most of those recent named club servants aren't.

Charlie Tully a Celtic legend, surely?

People still talk about the time he scored from a corner and it got disallowed, and then he scored from the re-take. That was over 60 years ago.
