You could argue it both ways tbh. He plays better because he stands out in a * team, or he plays better because he has better players around him, and imo stokesy is the better footballer but i think that goodwillie isn't far off and isn't goodwillie two years younger too?

Some players peak earlier than others, goodwillie is faster and arguably just as good a finisher as stokesy. Stokesy is good at technical ability etc too though which is something goodwillie doesnt have.

But just with the SPL teams Stokes done miles better

Stokes scored 40 goals in 66 games for Falkirk and Hibs
Goodwillie has scored 40 goals in 134 games for Dundee Utd

I think its only Larsson and Viduka in the SPL history 1999-now that have better goal to game ratios than Stokes, some going for a player who played for Hibs and Falkirk! He scored 36 goals in 56 games in the SPL for Falkirk and Hibs, Goodwillie has scored 29 goals in 117 SPL games at Dundee Utd in comparison.

Tbh I think goodwillie is overrated, I'd have stokes before him any day.

No Stokes is only 8 months older than him, I think they would actually have been in the same year at School too as Goodwillie is born in March and I think the new School years are April onwards?

he stands out better because of poorer players :97:

stats don't lie about how many goals he's scored. Goodwillie should be scoring well more, he's been at UTD for years, should be better settled.

Players peak at different times end of story. All I'm getting at is they are different types of players.

I think Goodwillie is a decent player but hes a player with no potential, hes like Billy Sharp from England. He'll always do quite well but his level will be a top League 1 Club or a bottom end Championship club.

Theres still potential in Stokes although it may never be reached as he doesnt come across as the hardworking type. If Stokes got a bit stronger and fitter and got the extra yard of pace and strength about him then hed maybe even be better than Hooper. At the moment too Stokes is a bottom end Championship Club or Top League 1 club level player but he has that bit of potential to get stronger, fitter and faster like Goodwillie is and could be a top player in the Championship like Hooper is.

Don't know why people find the need to compare players to what level they'd be in England. Who gives a * wether they'd be league 1, league 2, blue square prem, championship, or whatever the * in England, if they do the job for us up here in the league and europe then who gives a monkeys sack what level they'd be in England.

It would help us to have players who could do well in Europe though and be able to be sold for £5million+

There must be dozens of £2million strikers out there better than Goodwillie. Imagine we signed Lee Wallace last year instead of Izaguirre?

Unless a players is good good or has potential to be a good player then we should be looking abroad imo

    Huseklepp or Goodwillie :97:

Can't believe some folk want us to buy a * who happens to be a hun. This is Celtic Fc we are talking about here.....should we forget our moral obligation to uphold the tradition and history of our great club by purchasing this fud?

I am sure there has been a few bad apples who have signed for Celtic in the past however there is absolutely no need to go out and look for them.

Football should not come in to it.....if a * pest is a talented footballer then he can go and play for the huns, and fit right in with their ethos.

People would say he was a bad apple and look how he turned out...
If he signs he will do well here if not no problems.

To be honest, we're not gonna get him so i don't really know why we're still talking about him.

Not surprising. Very glad we'll not be signing him, though. Dodged a bullet.

So if Houston said the sun shone out of his * you would believe him ?
Sign David Goodwillie up, he is as good as Stokes or Hooper, and he has the potential to be even better.I don't care if he supports Rangers or Berwick Rangers, sign him up.
