We were well-beaten, but 3 of their first 4 goals had a huge slice of luck. We had 2 deflections and a ball which somehow threaded it's way between 2 pairs of legs and into the small gap between Schmeichel and the post. I know these big teams are clinical; but even Real Madrid aren't that clinical. And it really spooked us. Rodgers even commented after the game that he'd never seen anything like it.

We got that luck back against Atalanta and for Daizen's goal againt Brugge, though.

If we can keep up this level of performance we’ll win but we can’t afford to drop any in this second half.

Come on Celtic get this done!!!

Hopefully Brugge can take something from their last game with City to knock them out on their *.

Anything Celtic can take from Villa game is all about jockeying for position, but they will likewise be looking at wanting a Top 8 spot, so is going to be tough, but under the circumstances will take it.

PSG come from 2-0 down to win 3-2... Man Citeh now in serious danger

Celtic now on same amount of points as Dortmund... who'd have thought that? Obviously with one game to go situation is fluid and can change, but as things stand, we'd be facing either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the knockout.

Canny go Real Madrid beating us about 20-0 on aggregate.

Bayern for me. 10-0 doesn't sound so bad.

There is a small chance we can finish top 8 still.

We would need a lot of favours going our way, Atalanta are away to Barcelona but a draw would be enough to secure top 8 for them via GD. Leverkusen are at home to Sparta Praha so we'd need a minor miracle there, but a draw wouldn't be enough for Leverkusen.

Monaco away to Inter Milan, would want Milan to take something, Feyenoord against Lille which we'd want to be a draw. Madrid away to Brest which we'd also need to be a draw

Only problem is Bayern have a really easy game against Slovan to end it, so they are all but guaranteed one of the two spots still left.

It's extremely unlikely, but not mathematically impossible.

I have a feeling we will get at least a draw vs Villa next week.

Don't see us playing either of them they will finish higher up the fact is who we play is 100% guess work though as they table will be moving constantly a week tonight!

Hopefully not. Be a big ask no matter who we get anyway.

This format is far better though. The constant changing of positions across the board.

It would take something of a mathematical miracle, but it is even possible if Celtic win, to even get a spot in the Top 8... highly unlikely to say the least... but it is possible, as there are a whole cluster of teams all around the same point tally.

Next week is going to be very interesting as there will be a LOT of jockeying for position - and wonder if some bizarre results happen if some teams fancy their chances against a certain opponant so might look to 'engineer' a particular matchup. hmmm :35:

Real Madrid away to Brest next week
Bayern at home to Slovan Bratislava.
They should both win which hopefully means us not playing them.
Teams are paired up, so those finishing ninth and tenth will meet the teams in 23rd or 24th, 11th and 12th against 21st or 22nd and so on.

The highest seed will be at home in the second leg

Since Dortmund we’ve conceded 2 goals in 5 Champions League games. Pretty impressive.
