Hibs are awful now; but they did it last season, when we really struggled a few times against Hibs.

Given our record, I imagine there will be fans in Brugge, Bern, Bratislava and Zagreb all looking at us a favourable draw; never mind Birmingham, Leipzig, Bergamo and Dortmund. Hopefully we can prove the first 4 wrong.

Villa are better than us but saying we should be happy to keep it respectable is mental. Thankfully Rodgers has more sense than that and will be going there to get a result.

I'm not a Villa fan. Any EPL team would comfortably beat us 9 times out of 10. The better teams, like Villa, are on a totally different level. I'd say we're about at the level of a mid-table Championship team in a bad season and the top of the Championship/ bottom 3 of the EPL in a good season. Most of the SPL is about equivalent to League 1.

 

On our day ALMOST no one is better than us.
Just need to keep defence strong and take our chances every time.

 

I think that's harsh on us. I think over a full season we'd be in the bottom half of the EPL and possibly fighting relegation. But this isn't a full season - it's one game and I think we can raise our game and give them a fright and maybe even take something from it. Especially if they're over-confident and go into it expecting an easy game. The only issue is the Battle of Britain thing and the atmosphere in the stadium which might get them up for it.

 

Aston Villa also lost to Legia Warsaw last season fwiw, and were humped over two legs by Olympiakos.

I think a result isn't out of the question.

Let's not get into this again. To say Southampton, for example, or Ipswich, would comfortably beat us 9 times out of 10 is mental mate. We went over this last year. Last year, a bad year, we beat Feyenoord, should have won against Lazio, and drew against Atletico Madrid. I suppose you also think that every EPL team would beat Feyenoord and Lazio 9 times out of 10?

 

Against villa we will rightly be underdogs but it's a one off game and it's not beyond us to get a result. There were a lot of teams in that draw where away from home I could immediately write celtic off, but Villa are not one of them.

 

Agree paddy, with a few additions I definitely and only my opinion think we would be a definite top 10 side, a think in O’Neil s era even strachan we would have been pushing for Europe , maybe not the champions league, we proved it beating the likes of Liverpool, Blackburn who were a top team then aand man united who were best team in England then

Lol Villa fans seem to think they are the 90s AC Milan. Imagine being that deludional normally being a mid to bortom table club.

We have besten better sides. They are a Leipzig type quality side.

Think I saw them in the Dam when we won out there in 01? Stuttgart away as well I'm positive and maybe somewhere in France Lyon or Bordeaux possibly..
