So we will get 1 team from each of 8 countries to play against.
Lot of travelling for the supporters.
Also means possible 10 matches as long as we finish in top 24.
Win matches 9 and 10 we get into Last 16

Think you can also play teams from your own country now too

    Want:
    Inter
    Leipzig
    Benfica
    Shakhtar
    Feyenoord
    Lille
    Villa
    AEK Athens
That’s 2 from each pot with no 2 from same country

Yes, of course they do... If we make pot 3 we'll have only 1 pot 3 team and 2 pot 4's. If we're lucky it could be 3 teams we'd be stronger than... All luck of the draw, of course, but still better to be picking teams with a lower seeding than higher

Edit: oh, reading further, seems like you're right... We get 2 from each pot no matter what... So our seeding only actually affects the OTHER teams... Guess it'll impact who we can get from the other pots somehow, as we'll be THEIR 3rd seed, but my brain is refusing to work out the ramifications... :39:

Are you sure that’s how it works?

I thought we play 8 games, two from each pot. They way you’ve described it only adds up to 7.

This has gone up a level so let's hope our board act accordingly and significantly up their game.. I want to be competitive in Europe

No, I edited the response to correct for that... My initial understanding was wrong!

Potting doesn't effect anything yeah. It just ensures everyone gets an even spread of games ie you're not going to get 1 team playing all the world class teams (or with the way the draw normally goes for the English, 1 team playing all the diddies).

    Every team plays 2 from pot 1, 2, 3 and 4

36 teams so 4 pots of 9 teams.
1 team plays 8 others 4 home and 4 away 2 from each pot.
Top 8 go through to Last 16.
Teams placed 9th to 24th (16 teams) are drawn in home/away matches to qualify for last 16.

Its went well for me in FM so by that reckoning we will be fine.

In all seriousness I think this favours us. 2 extra games as well as a better spread of sides we have more of a chance (on paper) against.

If we invest and strengthen then 10 games is possible.

We dont really have a choice in some respects.

We will sign players but as ever, the question is over the level of them. Lawwell jnr leaving and Mark Cooper coming on board for the South American scouting bodes well as a starter but there's a lot of changes still needed.

If we don't back the manager then I doubt he will be here much longer so it needs to be now. Just has to be.

Doesn't it...:56: only we could have £100m+ in the bank and be worrying about whether any of it will be spent. That's money over and above investment that SHOULD just be coming from our billionaire majority shareholder. The idea that we always need to rely on money made from the club getting into the UCL and player sales annoys me.

    * is worth £3bn. Let's see some.

Genuine question. What was the points like to qualify for the playoff and automatic last 16? Just to get an idea for what we might need

No excuses for us not to make the playoffs in this. We’re more than capable and we’ve a * load more money than a lot of those teams.

On FM?:giggle1: About 10-12 as above aye for the play off so talking 3 wins and a draw from 8.

Caveat by saying I finished top and went all the way to the final only to lose on pens so dunno where the realism begins:BR1:

Really looking forward to new format aswell.

In terms of finance £38m before a ball is kicked for TV pool and participation money

4 home games say average ticket price £30 (allowing for concessions) x 59,000 (allowing for segregation and the 2 front rows being blanked off behind goals) £7m

Then increased sponsorship from manners, Adidas and dafabet is about another £2m

Corporate sales for all 4 at a minimum £2m

£49m before a * ball is kicked in anger.
