It's for tv. It's so that when one lot of games is finished and they can show another shortly after, and UEFA can get twice as much money from the broadcast rights compared to them all being at the same kick off time.

Terrible order of fixtures. Real Madrid at home then Shakthar and Leipzig away. Very real possibility that at the halfway point we could be sitting bottom with zero points which is going to massively affect the confidence of the team. Important to get a few draws or at least one win from one of the those fixtures so the pressure isn't on for the last home games.

Already been said but that run of fixtures is horrendous.

Anything more than 2 points out of first 3 games would be an achievement.

You can only hope that because of the disarray Ukraine is in and Shaktar squad losing so many players and not playing in Ukraine is where me might be able to get something.

If we, by some miracle avoid defeat against real madrid at home opening night, maybe we can get some confidence together to take points against Shaktar and leipzig.

But reality is that is tough start

What the table could look like after those three games could be mentally demotivating

Celtic's UEFA Champions League group-stage campaign will kick off on September 6 when Real Madrid come to Paradise.

The reigning European champions, who won the competition last season for the 14th time in their history, will face Ange Postecoglou's side on matchday one (KO: 8pm), and it's sure to be a special night as the Spanish giants visit Celtic Park for the first time since 1980.

After that opening fixture, the Hoops are on the road for their next two games - away to Shakhtar Donetsk on September 14, a game that will be played in Warsaw due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, and then RB Leipzig in Germany on October 5.

That game against RB Leipzig is the first part of a double-header, with the return at Celtic Park on October 11, before Shakhtar Donetsk come to Glasgow on October 25.

And Ange Postecoglou's side round off their group-stage fixtures with a trip to the Bernabeu Stadium to take on Real Madrid on November 2.

    CELTIC'S GROUP F FIXTURES
    • Celtic v Real Madrid (Sept 6, KO: 8pm)
    • Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic (Sept 14, KO: 5.45pm)
    • RB Leipzig v Celtic (Oct 5, KO: 5.45pm)
    • Celtic v RB Leipzig (October 11, KO: 8pm)
    • Celtic v Shakhtar Donetsk (October 25, KO: 8pm)
    • Real Madrid v Celtic (Nov 2, KO: 5.45pm)

madrid at home is the perfect start. beat them and the group starts to open up.

also 5:45 kick off is perfect for me. i can get up at 2:30am and watch the game, then get ready for work and leave at 5am as per normal.

the 8:00 kick offs i am going to have to talk to the boss about starting late those days. or who knows i might get sick on those days.

If we could get 2+ points from the opening three games, we should be getting Europe after Christmas.

Real tough opening games though. Real Madrid first and then two away games. Ooft.

Could be heading to Madrid needing a win :56:

An 8pm kick off is 9pm in most countries in Europe and 10pm in some. I don't think a Scottish home match would be put for that time to be fair.

That's realistically the hardest our fixtures could have gone. I knew we were due some kind of usual * luck :56:

We should really be looking at Shakhtar away as a winnable game. Get to the midway point with 3 points and we're in a great position to still be in Europe after Christmas.

3 points away at Shakhtar is very possible, I wouldn't be surprised if we had 4 points after the first 3 games. We need to get at least a point from Shakhtar for hopes of 3rd place, that'll be the minimum requirement from the first 3

I like the way this has panned out…

RM at home first…. Can maybe squeeze something..

double header against zee chermanz is knockout-like with us away first ✔️ Again - hopefully get a share or more of the points over those 2.

I’m assuming we play SD in Poland somewhere.

RM away to finish… I think our place will be decided by that point but a grand finish whatever.

First game being Real at home is kind of good in a way. We will be roaring out the traps and possibly have a bit of an unknown quantity about us. The group being wide open at that point our fans will make noise with maximum hope and belief.

Perfect ending. By the last game Madrid have qualified anyway. So they should play the kids with the world cup etc coming. Would think we will have an actual very good chance that game. Perfect last game. * first game, however Madrid are not immune to a bad start either. Fingers crossed.

I've been to away games before in Europe and they've always had these times thou. 5.45 has always been a rare kick off. Traditionally it's always been 7.45 kick of uk time. Even half 6 would have been ok. Time to get full day work in, home for quick bite to eat then straight to pub for soup. But that's just me being a selfish * haha

If anyone is selling or knows anyone who is selling tickets pm me willing to pay a mark up. Trying to get 2 tickets.

Also if any season ticket holder is being priced out I’ll pay for all the 3 match package and give you the Real Madrid tickets for free
