I just can't get exited by Flood, to me he'll end up like Fernandez, Sylla, Riordan etc. who play well against us but do nothing when we sign them.

On the contrary - judging by what I read and saw of him with the Celtic Doctor I reckon it's a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

He's 6 months left on his contract, he's not coming on a free transfer, there is a fee involved.

I heard its a free , Ie same with Chris Burke , papers reported it 150 k Cardif confirmed he moved on a free as Rangers wanted him off the wage bill .

Celtic are believed to have effectively landed him for free, with Cardiff City happy to clear the remaining six months of his wages from their books. Flood had been on loan at United from Cardiff for the past 18 months and discussions were continuing last
night to finalise his release from that agreement — and decide his availability for weekend fixtures.

That isnt free, it means a nominal fee.

Rangers just wanted Burke off their wage bill, this is a different scenario as Dundee United wanted him permanently too.

Cardiff probably twisted Celtic's arm a little and got a sweetner for recalling his loan early on the club thats probably subsidising his wages for the last season and a half and writing off 6 months of a contract.

We'll have a better idea of everything on monday

delight as willo flood signs for celtic

    Paul Cuddihy
CELTIC Football Club are pleased to announce today that Willo Flood has joined the club. The player has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and is delighted to be joining his boyhood heroes.

The midfielder, who was on loan at Dundee United from Cardiff City, told the official Celtic website: “It really is a tremendous honour to sign for a club of Celtic’s stature.

“This is an exciting challenge and one which I am really looking forward to. I have been a fan of Celtic all my life and this truly is a dream come true to sign for the club.

“I will be joining a great group of players and I will be giving everything I can to make as big a contribution as possible to Celtic Football Club. I hope to play my part in achieving more and more success for the club and its supporters.

“I would like to thank Dundee United FC for all they have done for me. I have enjoyed my time there immensely and I wish the club all the best for the future. My focus is now Celtic and I can’t wait to get started with my new club.”

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan said: “We are delighted to welcome Willo to Celtic Football Club.

“He has had a tremendous time at Dundee United where he has shown great ability, drive and enthusiasm. We look forward to working with him at Celtic.”

Twenty-three-old Flood began his career at Manchester City, remaining three years at the club, while also having loan spells at Rochdale and Coventry City.

The Dublin-born player joined Cardiff City in 2006 and then spent last season on loan at Dundee United, making 44 appearances.

And this season he made a further 24 appearances for the Tannadice side.
