I just realised I’ve pretty much stopped keeping track of the young promising guys development in the Youth/development/B team because at least subconsciously, I don’t think we’ll ever see any really make the grade for us outwith some that get the pathway to the first team through sheer luck, like Welsh getting in the squad and winning a place after a series of injuries and being the absolute last option possible that we could turn to.

* even Tierney’s path into the first team was jammy as *. We played Tyler Blacket and Efe Ambrose there after he impressed on his debut, and after bullying Van Persie when we played him out of desperation and no other options did he get trusted. Really it shouldn’t be that difficult, not many players would even have the chance to play against the likes of RVP never mind 2 games into a career * destroy him, they moved him to the other wing because Tierney’s performance
.
But if we had the personnel available, Ambrose would have had that spot. That was 2015 now a think, 8 years ago, and not a thing has changed. It’s possibly worse now

 

I used to always have a decent amount of interest in our youth players/youth team but now, being honest…. I genuinely have 0 interest. Never pay attention to their games or results n if I see a win for them I think… meh. The fifth tier of scottish football or whatever it is is just pointless, 0 development for younger lads skill wise. Will help with physicality but that’s it if anything our youth system is holding lads back I think. Really needs changing

See the vote has narrowly been passed to allow them to remain for another 2 years. We would be as well pulling them out of it at the end of the season. It's just embarrassing now. Sitting midtable in a league full of part timers.

Who would of thought giving key developmnet jobs to 2 of Kennedys pals wouldn't have worked out.

Currently bottom of group in PL cup, finished bottom of Champions League group, knocked out challenge cup in 1st round, and sitting midtable in the 5th tier of Lowland league.

A club who's whole business model is to develop players for profit yet continues to ignore the multiple failings in its youth Academy.

Is there * anything we are currently doing in a professional or even competent manner?

 

Poor, extremely poor. We are badly run from top to bottom.

 

Lowland League experiment clearly isn't working, we should come out it and try and be at the forefront of a new concept..

We actually need a total revamp of our youth setup..
