At the time of your post it was not clear who would end up to be the vice champion in Belgium, but last saturday Club Brugge got completely destroyed by Gent (6-2), so Gent finishes second (for the first time in 55 years).

I think it would be a nice tie, but it is a game that Celtic should win (only compare the budget of both teams and it should be clear that Gent has nothing to do in the CL).

 

If we could just scrape through I would be over the moon, really want them CL nights next season, going to be very difficult to get past some teams mentioned. How many games would we need to play before we could qualify? I really dont understand how this works

 

I think it is like this:

Celtic is now in the third round. Two matches against one team. If we win, we move to the play off round where we have to play again two games before we can enter the group stage. So we would have to beat 2 teams.

If we do not qualify in the third round of the CL, we end up in the last qualifying round for the Europa League.

If we qualify in the third round of the CL, but get kicked out in the play off round, we enter the Europa League group stage.

I would prefer CL of course, but EL group stage would be nice as well.

 

couple of potential banana skins there. i wouldn't want an Eastern European side. think we should negotiate this stage as best we could hope for. would be very disappointed if we didn't reach the play off stage.
