Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

    Gordon Strachan has made his first official move in the transfer market with a £2million bid for Maciej Zurawski of Wisla Krakow.

    The Polish striker is in top form and has already stated in the media he would love to move to the Scottish giants.

    And Wisla President Janusz Basalaj said earlier today: "We have just received an official offer from the Scottish club.

    "Celtic has presented their proposal and we have launched negotiations."

    Strachan has had Zurawski watched and is hopeful of getting the player on board quickly.

    But Celtic fans will be concerned that this might mean a move for Welshman Craig Bellamy is becoming more and more unlikely.

    Newcastle want at least £5million for the unsettled striker although Celtic aren't prepared to match that valuation.

    Meanwhile, defender Joos Valgaeran has signed for FC Brugge on a free after his contract expired.

    The Belgian will be returning to his homeland after Martin O'Neill brought him to Glasgow 5 years ago.

    Neil Lennon though is going nowhere after agreeing to sign a one year deal which will probably see the Northern Irishman into retirement.

      Seems on Monday Your boards will come to Cracow and they will sign all papers. Zurawski has told that he willl be at his first training in Celtic on 10th July becouse to this date he was given free time from GS.

      Hope we get Zurawski and Bellers it would be great to see al the strikers fightin for a place and i hink it would raise all of their games in order to get a good run in the team and i hink it would solve our goal problem

      I think so as Juninho who wore the no.7 shirt left the club last season so it would make sense that Zurawski would get the no.7 shirt. Traditionally Celtic's best player wears the no.7 shirt like Henrik Larsson so it would be a great privilage for Zurawski if he were to get it.

      Hi, everybody.
      I'm from Poland and I', supporter of Legia Warsaw.
      Legia and Wisla "love" each other the same as Celtic and Rangers.
      But I think that Zurawski was the best player who played in Polish Leauge for last few years.He has great dribling, good shot, nice positioning.
      Zurawski was a player who didn't only stay in penalty and finish his friends actiones.HE went back to the center of pitch and helped to second formation.He is the best Polish player with : Dudek, Krzynowek,Frankowski(partner of Zurawski in Wisla's attack) and Boruc (you know who is he ?)

      Hi (L)eGutek, Zurawski does sound a great player and I'm sure he will do well for us. Yes we know who Boruc is. It was been reported in the Scottish press that Celtic might sign Boruc as we need a new goalkeeper. Is he a really good a goalkeeper?

      I would prefer Celtic bought Boruc than Niemi as Boruc is much, much younger.

      Exactly! As if we did get Niemi we would only get a couple of years out him. A bad investment as if we bought Boruc and it didn't work out we could always sell him and get a transfer fee for him.
