Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

  1. Gordon Strachan has made his first official move in the transfer market with a £2million bid for Maciej Zurawski of Wisla Krakow.

The Polish striker is in top form and has already stated in the media he would love to move to the Scottish giants.

And Wisla President Janusz Basalaj said earlier today: "We have just received an official offer from the Scottish club.

"Celtic has presented their proposal and we have launched negotiations."

Strachan has had Zurawski watched and is hopeful of getting the player on board quickly.

But Celtic fans will be concerned that this might mean a move for Welshman Craig Bellamy is becoming more and more unlikely.

Newcastle want at least £5million for the unsettled striker although Celtic aren't prepared to match that valuation.

Meanwhile, defender Joos Valgaeran has signed for FC Brugge on a free after his contract expired.

The Belgian will be returning to his homeland after Martin O'Neill brought him to Glasgow 5 years ago.

Neil Lennon though is going nowhere after agreeing to sign a one year deal which will probably see the Northern Irishman into retirement.

    1. This site is really taken over by Polish fans now. I hope no one is upset about it - this just shows how big Zuraw is here. You guyes are excited he is comming to you (that's normal), but here the people are excited to see him go to Celtic (that's somewhat unusual) and leave Poland.

The Polish newspapers are announced that Celtic have an interest in Kamil Kosowski who is playing for 1FC Kaiserslautern. The former (in theory he is on a loan from Wisla - so he is still our player technically) Wisla player who was a star of our team has not been doing that well in Germany. Somehow his great talent was wasted. Mancini (current Inter coach and former Lazio coach) after seing him play against Lazio said that this is one of the top left wingers in Europe right now and was supposed to buy him, but then Kosowski went to Germany where things didn't go really according to plan. He did have great streaks of games, then he played others like he was somewhere else with his toughts. He did still make the national team however where he proved that he still has it in him. So what's his problem. We don't really know - maybe he didn't settle in the team; maybe the coaching just doesn't make it for him - who knows. Kaiserslautern just renewed the loan - so they still believe in him. And today they announced that Celtic is looking in him.

We will see what will happen. If u guys get him when he is in form then that will be a great choice. But it is hard to project - he has the skill and the tallent, but not necessarily the attitude. One other thing - he and Zurawski know each other like brothers. Kosowski could make the assists with his eyes closed - he just knew where Zurawski i going to be. That could be a great thing for Celtic. It sure worked for Wisla in the games against Parma, Schalke 04 and almost worked against Lazio. You can still see this when they play in the national team. So maybe if Zurawski and Kosowski will be together in one team this could be greatly beneficiant to them both and ultimately to the team they play in. Whether Kosowski and Celtic is just a rumor or not - hard to predict. But Celtic will have to talk with the same people at Wisla - coz. Kaiserslautern will get 20% of the transfer money, but the final word and 80% of the money stays in Krakow. Maybe they are talking about it while they discuss Zurawski's contract.

On the Zurawski front - Wisla has annouced that negotiations will continue after the weekend. There will not be any talks over saturday and sunday - so don't expect any breakthroughs. We will see how it goes. If Zurawski and Kosowski will play for the Bhoys I will definietly jump on the plane to see a game or two in Glasgow :)))

    3. Well What Can I say... Zurawski is great player with all abilites which a star should have and he is normal hardworking, polite guy.
Kosowski is a star... He used to play in casinos, he is divorced etc etc etc he had problems with his life now when he is on loan in Germany seems he is calm.
Kosowski's strong points are his speed, go-ahead (?) and expirience his technique and work rate were a crap. I am confident of Zurawski will become one of the most important Celtic players but I cant say same about Kosowski if You will sing them.

    10. Polish press has confirmed Trabzon offer. Sport headlines showns that trabzon offered 100 000 euros more than Celtics so now player has to decide where to go. What more Trabzonspor has offered much better salary for Zurawski than Celtic.
One more argument is that there is playing a friend of Zurawski - Szymkowiak and Trabzonspor is playing CL qualies also... . I think Zurawski might have known something about Trabzon new offer so thats why he wanted to negotiate better wage at Glasgow.
I hope Zurawski will take the best decision.
Personally I would like him to play at Celtics but it is only my wish.

    11. try here dude

    13. Trabzonspor pays 3.1 mln for Maciej. I have read today that he would prefer go to Celtic and we all too, Celtic is much more beter club. Anyway Trabzonspor gave better offer. And he has to think more about possible move to Celtic or to Trabzon. I wish him to go to celtic of course.

      Best regards

    14. Trabzon is situated in Asia. I prefer Celtic (I live in Warsaw)

    18. i must say i understand zuraw' dilemma (as i have written here)
still, i hope he will be joinin celtic soon :>

    19. I totally agree. Zuraw would not even look into Turkey if it wasn't for Szymkowiak (his friend) who is playing for Trabzo and I guess feels very lonely. Plus overall - Turkish league is becomming really interesting (Fenerbache, Galatasaray, Beisktas and nor Trabzonspor). But a shithole is a shithole and I seriously don't understand why Zuraw is even thinking about it - coz. it really seems a no-brainer to me. Unless we don't know something. It is strange that he is thinking about Turkey - that's the only place he actually didn't go to see the city and the stadium. (He went to Vienna to talk to Austria; he now went to Glasgow)

Anyway - Wisla has officialy made a press release where they informed that they want Zurawski to annouce a decission about his plans by Thursday, coz frankly even Wisla is getting slightly tired about this whole uncertainty thing. So guys - no later than Thursday we will know. Can't really understand what Zuraw is still contemplating.
