Against Morton Celtic didn't have a single Scot in the team, & only 1 on the bench.
Rangers had 9 Scots against Hamilton & 4 more on the bench. They also had 2 young players, Wilson & Fleck, who have come thru their reserves.
Now it appears Scott Brown is going, so where is Mowbray taking us?
Do you think this matters?

Most of our homegrown players are injured just now. -

:56: The new Arsenal, if only.
“It’s not the creed nor nationality that counts. It’s the man himself.” This is a quote that proudly demonstrates Celtic as a club open to all. -

Under MoN we normally only had McNamara playing regularly. but as already mentioned, a few Scots are injured.

I was actually going to start a thread on this this morning but you've kinda beat me to it :icon_mrgreen: I assumed this thread was about tippy tappy crappy football with zero end product.
With Caldwell and Robson away (arguably "core" players) I've been a bit worried about this. I find it hugely important for Celtic to represent Scotland and do well for the nation - developing players and keeping the best at the top. It enriches the league right down to grass roots.
This is partly why I think a mature Scott Brown could be integral to us in the future (mature being the key-word). We also have Maloney probably in the first 11 and I guess Fox.
Don't underestimate the rest of our contribution to Scottish Football. Think of the guys that may not quite make the cut at Celtic but go on and make solid careers for themselves. In our current-ish squad we can see guys like Caddis, Wilson, MacGowan, Ferry, McManus, and over the Irish sea guys like McGinn, McCourt, McGeady, O'Dea, Sheriden. Some of these guys won't make the cut but we are improving them as players and exposing them to high-pressure high-level football - which is the very least we can do to help.
Are there any up and coming Scots to take over from Brown/Maloney/Wilson/Hartley/Caldwell/Robson? -

It doesn't matter one bit unless a home rule comes into eefect, if that happens we could be in trouble.

I think the original quote was pointing out that no players on the park could qualify to play for scotland, in my opinion I couldn't care less if we had 11 players from outer mongolia playing as long as we perform and WIN -
In our squad, I don't think so, although I think Tony will bring in a few Scots in the next transfer window. He tried to take Leigh Griffiths to West Brom before he left so I'm wondering if he'll look at him again.
If he was doing it this window everyone would be on here moaning that we're signing "* SPL quality players" or "youth projects" so its a lose/lose situation really. -
there just arent any good scots players that would be worth buying. Foreign youngsters have a better attitude for the game and thats why we are looking abroad nowadays for the next big star (Ki, Rogne, Misun). Scots youngsters are more happy with the footballer lifestyle rather than simply playing the game.

Ki, Rogne, Crosas, N'Guemo, Misun - or Gary Kenneth and Darren Barr.
Tough one... :50: -

i wouldn't want celtic to sign scottish players if there is a better alternative. but against the likes of morton i think we should play more of our youngsters scottish or otherwise
-
I have no bias as to the nationality of the players once they understand the job that they are there to do and do it well!
Once the best 11 are on the pitch I don't care where they come from! Arsenal seem to be doing OK without any Englishmen :icon_mrgreen: -
Its a uk issue, it will only get worse, years ago the kids used to eat sleep and drink football, nowadays with the electronic gadgets that are out there
some kids are just not interested, its seems too hard work to run around
and prefer the buckie to a bag of wind
our useless goverment and local authorities should be ploughing more cash into our youth and demanding more hours spent doing sports
if you see the pitches were my lad plays on in gateshead you will be shocked as numpty here has to clear the dog * off the park which looks like the rockies:38: -
However I believe in the tradition & romance of supporting Glasgow Celtic, & a large part or that is the great Lisbon Lions.
Although I am Irish it still fills me with pride that the Lisbon Lions did something that had never been done before & probably will never be done again.
Looking at Arsenal from the outside it seems to me they are based in England but no longer an English club.
Celtic are a Scottish club & they should be contributing to Scottish football & the national team, so I really hope that Scott Brown stays & some of the other Scots still around eg Maloney, find some form & get back into the team. -
