    KOK -
-"The first source I searched for talks about a £1m a year offer from Arsenal. This is virtually identical to what he receives just now in my understanding. I don't see that as loyalty.

I would imagine Lawwell would have done long term incentives built into his contract. They may well stand to net him a multiple of his annual salary a few times over if he is here for x number of years.

Ultimately though, it is all speculation. We have no idea if he would be financially better off at Celtic or Arsenal, so I'm not sure how you can praise his loyalty. Right now though, it certainly looks as though he receives an EPL level salary while simultaneously telling the fans we can't compete at that level in terms of wages."-

I believe that is salary as well bonus would be on top, here its salary and bonus.
I'm sure a similar 'deal' would be in place should he have left.
You are right it is all speculation and indeed things can be made to 'look' a certain way for whatever reason.
He will continue to get slaughtered from some no matter what he does or doesn't do.

I know its Glasgow but even there has Michelin rated restaurants surely :86:
Yes I was talking about a like for like as well , in this parallel or should that be Lawwell universe.

I do agree that he gets unfairly targetted here, most of it is probably just as a consquence of being the corporate face of a football club. Whether he does a good job or not is up for debate I feel, but I do think he provides a budget that should see us through to the CL each season.

I can't critiscise him for the Deila appointment either, despite wanting him gone now, as I was very much in favour of his appointment. I would hope that it doesn't put us off taking a gamble of a relatively unknown managerial prospect in the future.

Wouldn't I be right in saying that Lawwell lives in Kilmarnock or something?

To be fair, there are some insanely nice houses in Kilmarnock. Theres loads of properties over the £400k threshold.

Still, random place for him to live is it not? :smiley-laughing002:

I'd been told he lived in Kilmarnock. I also had been told he had a heated driveway fitted outside his mansion though, so :smiley-laughing002:

    * knows, wherever he lives it's far cheaper than London though.

I was watching that Million dollar homes the other night, was an ex-council house, 2 bedroom shithole for £1m odd, showed you up here and you're getting a 12 bedroom * castle :smiley-laughing002:

Also, couldn't reply to tim and KOK yesterday.

The £5m I was talking about was at Arsenal. The current CEO is in line to pocket that if he leaves - that is their remuneration package. He is the highest paid EPL CEO with a paypacket just over £2m.

I see no reason why Lawwell wouldn't have gotten it.

Plus if you are earning that sort of money, come on - you can live in London and enjoy the finer things. As Tim said - who cares if a coffee was £7, Im sure he'd be fine.

It still perplexes me why he hasn't ever left for pastures new. People talk about him earning £1m a year but that is after bonuses and he hasn done so every year. Only a couple. Most years he earns about £500k, which is nothing for a CEO.

It does seem loyal in my eyes.

The bonus is part of the problem in my opinion. We are becoming weaker and weaker on the park, but his bonus is still propping up his salary to nearly £1m a year. It's rewarding failure in my opinion.

It is loyalty mate, I'm not saying it is. Just saying that money goes a lot further in Scotland than it does in London.

There'll be many reasons he turned it down, was just a thought though.

To earn his bonus he's clearly doing what the shareholders want. That's the problem.

Doesn't our results on the park reflect on our financial position though? I mean, I doubt our finances look as healthy if the team isn't performing, doesn't qualify for the Champions League, and doesn't contain players that wealthier clubs want to pay millions of pounds for?

I would imagine the shareholders also want a successful team on the park. If we cannot compete with the EPL financially, something that Lawwell is quick to point out when it comes to players, then in my opinion, that should run right through the club.

So, instead of having a non-EPL quality side on the park but an EPL-level Chief Executive at the helm, you'd rather we binned him and hired someone less capable because he'd want less wages?

Then the shareholders should change his bonus structure.

Did he claim a bonus this year btw?

Aye. I'm not pro-Lawwell by any means but you have to wonder who else we would get in.

I mean Lawwell does get us a good deal with sponsors and what not. New Balance could stick two fingers up at us and offer half what they do because they know how terrible Scottish football is.

He keeps us semi-relevant. Although its still an insult because our teams are suffering.

He has denied himself his bonus on a few occasions but that 'money' doesn't disappear, he is still able to claim it, only when Celtic are performing better and people don't take too much notice when he draws down an extra million or two!

Its not really his salary I have an issue with whether its 500k or 1M, its the way he is running us.

How do you know it would be someone less capable? If we can't compete with EPL teams on the park financially, there is no way we should be able to off the park, that is my point.
