We all knew Hatate would be a big miss, but I think it was even more noticeable based on how they set up against us.

Beale had Tillman constantly blocking the passing lanes to McGregor, which resulted in a lot of early passing between our CBs and lost possession when we tried to bypass McGregor when moving it forward. It again highlighted just how important Cal is to our play.

When teams have tried that against us in the past, Hatate would often come deep to get on the ball and he's so mobile and agile that he can beat the press just by dropping the shoulder and moving past opponents. Neither Mooy or O'Riley have that, so it caused a lot of disruption to our build-up.

With Hatate hopefully back for the next match, I think we'll be far more able to play through them.

Mooy has been coming deeper throughout this season but he was after more time on the ball yesterday than he was afforded because he was just back from injury. A number of times yesterday CCV and AJ didn’t play the ball to Mooy in space.

AJ started to play that ball through to Mooy more often in the second half and that’s when we got on top from 55’. TBH, everyone is saying it’s Iwata that made the difference, I actually think it was AJ and his vertical passes that started to unlock their defence and our attack.

We’ve dropped 5 points in 31 games, that’s pretty special

Anyone got the clip of the interview Beale(ing) did straight after the match on Sky? Think he was talking some pish like "My team definitely took participated in that game". @Notorious maybe?

Was working yesterday so could only keep tabs on the game on here. But just watched the game.

Aye we weren't at our sparkly best and some of the passes going astray under no pressure was mad but imo I thought we were still well worth our win. Didn't think the huns troubled us all that much bar a few iffy moments we had at the back.

He's taken over Fae Tam as our most technically gifted player in my opinion, he's unreal. Vision and control is unbelievable. Him an McGregor together is an absolute dream.

    Yep I agree.
The problem they have is when they set up like that to stop us playing, which they did fairly well, they struggle to hurt us in attack.

He does have a surly look on him. He was going to be the revelation from the South that was going to replace Rogic, but he has not convinced me. Tom should have stayed another year, not gone into football wilderness with WBA. Seems to me he was disrespected and was squeezed out for Mat.
