We need to work on our playing out the back when faced with pressure. Starfelt and CCV were poor imo. Mooy had a horror show, and Hart needs replaced in the summer.

Thought we were OK not great ,hatate makes such difference to us and the pace we play , iwata seems to be good reader of where to be and where to run into too open up play , wee kyogo wot a striker ,aj had a great game a few wee lapses though ,don't know why Joe Hart goes for the free kick save with a closed fist ,also woulda liked to see him run out to block taveners header ,woulda put him off his header .

Apart from about 10-15mins in 2nd half we were poor. Our passing was off and our defending as a team was bad. No 1 player was exceptional for us but Jota, Johnston and Kyogo did well. Maeda worked hard too. Our quality going forward ultimately won us the game but we must improve our defending as a team if we are to improve results in Europe. How many times did sevco fling in crosses unopposed? How many times did they pick up a loose ball or saunter forward in midfield with nobody near? All that comes from the midfield and forwards not doing their part defensively. To play modern-style football every player must be an attacker going forward and every player a defender when the opposition have the ball. We do the 1st but not the 2nd. Still, 12 points clear so HH.

 

Fixed that for you. The correct way to deal with a press is to punish it with long passes. If under sustained pressure, our defenders shout put the ball out for a throw-in or go long and find some of our speedsters. * keeping possession for the sake of principles. Most teams don't have good long throw takers. Giving teams throw-ins is giving them nothing, in reality.
