If he wins every remaining game 5-0 he'd have easily earned the job. Every Celtic fan I know would carry him to Lawwell's office to sign the contract.

Struggling to beat poor opposition -often ten man opposition- is what's currently costing him the gig. Or, it should be.

I'd love nothing better than for him to turn it around, pump the Huns at Ibrox and storm to the Scottish Cup. If Lenny could keep up our domestic dominance and hold our own in Europe he'd be the perfect manager. But the performances and some of the results so far are worrying.

In Europe, going negative is kind of required. As for attack- I want less short passes from the back, and more crosses or balls over the top.

I agree but we don't know what criteria he needs to fulfil to get the job or even if he has any chance of getting the job.
If his brief is to solely entertain then he has failed although I suspect he may have been instructed to steady the ship, win the league and as an extra secure the cup

That's fair enough but if any of the board are reading this and doubting Lennon on the basis of JC's judgement drop me a PM and I'll show you a sample of his shirt collection and let you draw your own conclusions :fear:

    The last paragraph isn’t correct.

He’s already bettered Rodgers results in the same fixtures this season.

I know Bayo is injured, but not trying him out before that injury is something that can be blamed on Lennon.

Rodgers' tactics in Europe -though admirable in one way- were ultimately suicidal. But there is no longer an approach in Europe at Champions League level that can guarantee anything. The gap has increased exponentially in the last few years. If all we're after in Europe is game stifling tactics against the "big" clubs we should go for Steve Clarke.

The last time we tried Lenny's tactics in Europe we lost five games out of six -including a 6-1 humiliation.

Defensive tactics give us a fighting chance, and I want a manager who is willing to implement them. The bold option is fine by me. He had troubled Rodgers several times they had met.

The board tore apart Lenny's fantastic team, and never gave him the funds to replace the key men. I think that explains the severe loss. Ideally, the board need replaced, and then any solid manager could make us into a strong European team, and make sure we stay such.

He’s got a point though. We need someone who’s going to demonstrate far more pragmatism in Europe if we’re going to advance, or at least avoid embarrassment.

Rodgers absolute adherence to the same philosophy wasn’t the answer in europe.

Not really. Rodgers got better results against Aberdeen and Livingston at home. Lenny got better results against Hearts and St Mirren away. They both got wins against Dundee(A)and the Huns(H).

I think the performances have been worrying. I think losing our 100% home record is worrying. I'm hoping we see a big turnaround so we can safely give Lenny the job. But it's too important a moment in our history for appointments to be made on sentiment.

I’d rather have a manager that’s fluid in thinking both defensively and attacking wise. What I absolute want though, and this is what Rodgers brought more than anything, is the absolute surety and mentality that we should be horsing everycunt in Scotland and not allowing us to slip in that belief.

    Undoubtedly.

No one can question this man and his passion, loyalty etc to the club.

Yes really. If you were to look at the exact same fixtures Lennon would be ahead on points.

I think what it comes down to for some people is a lack of excitement in the known, rather than the unknown; Lennon not being a particularly glamorous name after Rodgers, and the football so far being a bit stale, even if results are being achieved. For me the final one is to be expected given the situation we find ourselves in.

Michael O’Neil has fairly jumped up the list on PP.

It's nothing to do with glamour. It's everything to do with the poor performances, weird team selections and even stranger substitutions and game management of the last few games. Lenny's blowing his chance. And I really wanted him to get the gig.

The idea that we sacrificed European performances for domestic success with Rodgers is laughable. We had plenty of good performances in Europe under Rodgers. Could it have been better? Sure. What do people expect though? We went toe to toe with City, Zenit, Leipzig and Valencia. You can't ask for much more.

Even Bayern at CP we were unlucky not to get something imo.
