Celtic’s next permanent manager

Any top manager needs an equally good assistant to either deal with the players or tactics. That’s when the ego’s come into play though.

 

Biggest fear is still that Congerton is * here.

 

Not sure about Villas Boas, seems a smart * and been around a few differently levels of football but I always thought he was one of those * types most people don't like.

Not sure why people dislike Martinez by the way, he was working miracles with Wigan playing attractive football. They ended up going down but they kept on having to deal with losing a lot of their top players. Did really well at Everton initially and got a 3rd place finish in the world cup with Belgium after several tournaments of them flattering to deceive. Beating Brazil and England twice. Really smart guy and tactically quite astute, for reference people should check out how Wigan coped with Man City in the 2013 FA Cup final. Also back in 2012 Wigan had victories away to Liverpool and Arsenal before beating Man United at home all in the space of a few weeks.

 

Aye, people jumping on at 16/1 due to the twitter rumours probably boosted him up.

 

True, basically no * has a clue what's going on then same as with our transfers, it's all fairly hush hush until the guys in Glasgow airport.

Imagine this managerial appointment will be the same.

 

If we get Martinez we will get James McCarthy no doubt about it, not sure if thats a good or bad thing...

 

I'm actually not too bothered who gets it out of the names linked, just an emphatic NAW to Moyes + Coyle.

 

It wasn’t AVB who signed the players at Spurs. He was the one who wanted a DOF to come in and help build that side of the club with contacts and scouting. Spurs went and got Baldini from Roma and he seemed to be good at getting rid of the deadwood, the signings were basically a disaster aside from a couple.

Baldini offered his resignation when AVB got sacked because he thought the blame was on him because his signings were all wrong.

I’d rather we kept getting top coaches for a year or two instead of being stuck with the likes of Lennon, Moyes or Keane for a few years.

A DOF is just as important as a new manager long term for me.

He was horrendous in the end at Everton, really bad with no plan B and his tactics and team line ups where *, loads of my Everton supporting pals * hated him.

Look at the team he had with Belgium, hard to really * it up, and any * who picks Boyata needs to be questioned in my book.

Rather have Lennon if we are looking at his previous role with Celtic.

Wigan was a very long time ago and like you said they still went down.

Am I missing something re Martinez in terms of him being realistic? He seems way way out of reach when you consider he's the Belgium manager.

Edit after a bit of digging its the Maloney connection and Gerry Collins claims he's ITK and its happening

 

Plus his missus is Scottish..

Him coming here is realistic. The timing probably isn't though when they've got a real chance of winning the Euro's next year..
