Newcastle are about to offer Rafa 15m for a single season... like * he's gonna knock that back.

In other depressing news Carlos Carvalhal has thrown his hat into the ring.

At this point we'd be better off holding a * jobs fair and interviewing * who play champ manager on the reg.

As a Liverpool fan myself, I can confidently say Rafa is a * amongst men.

He’d love Celtic. But surely not...

Sky Bet and Paddy Power both have Rafa at 5/4 and 3/1 or 7/2 on Lennon as second favourite.

If we got Rafa I would be beyond excited ..please!

Rafa Benitez was in dublin once handing out awards for a football tournament I had played in, upon seeing the hoops my team wore he made a sly comment about how it’s funny we were being awarded medals for second place because Celtic also finished second that season then he turned to his assistant and made him give him a high five. I was a bit too young to realize it was an insult to celtic(was only 14) but what he said afterwards was received clearly, as we were walking away he said to the same assistant ’little * *’. Which was weird because half the team were African, anyways I made this all up.

It's J Kennedy's gig long term for me. Been earmarked for it by Lawell. I think that whoever we get will be told they are having Kennedy as their assistant then after a couple of years he'll be stepped up. For me that's why Lennon is still the most likely to get the nod ahead of more prestigious names. He'll be seen as a gap filler to get us over the line then easily moved on to make way for Kennedy. Only thing counting against him is if these rumours of him disregarding the infrastructure that Rodgers had put in place behind the scenes are true, something I think Kennedy and the rest of the staff had bought fully in to and something I think the board might want to see embraced. I think Kennedy def has a say in Lawells thinking, especially with him being Lawells guy long term.

CARLOS CARVALHAL wants to be the next Celtic boss — and he’s ready to make his pitch to the Hoops hierarchy.

The Portuguese manager is eager to get back into management in Britain after spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea.

Neil Lennon remains in the role ahead of the Scottish Cup final against Hearts a week on Saturday which could secure an historic treble Treble.

It’s unclear whether the 2-0 Old Firm defeat to Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday has damaged Lennon’s chances of a permanent return to the hot-seat.

But SunSport understands Carvalhal’s representatives have contacted the Parkhead powerbrokers to press his claims.

The 53-year-old has European experience after spells with Sporting Braga and Sporting Lisbon in his homeland as well as Besiktas in Turkey.

He led Wednesday to the brink of the English Premier League, twice reaching the promotion play-offs and once losing in a Wembley final.

He had a brief spell with Swansea in the top-flight, presiding over some impressive wins against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal last season.

The charismatic coach — who has also bossed in Greece — studied for his Uefa Pro Licence with Jose Mourinho and is a pal of Mourinho’s former No2 Rui Faria.

The Hoops board won’t make a decision on the job until after the Cup final.

They are also hunting for a new head of recruitment after Lee Congerton followed Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City at the weekend.

Whoever takes the reins faces a rebuild this summer with at least nine first-team stars set to leave

The first Champions League qualifier is just eight weeks away, so a quick appointment would be preferable.

Lennon, who secured eight in a row with an unbeaten run after Rodgers left in February, remains bookies’ favourite.

Former Celts defender David Moyes is also in the frame with Chris Hughton installed as third favourite after being sacked by Brighton yesterday.

I'd take Rafa. Only if he brings JonJo Shelvey with him, dealbreaker for me.
