Chris Hughton played gash footy at Brighton in the prem because he wasn't stupid enough to think that playing nice football would get him results with the players he had, they would of got absolutely * destroyed by the vast majority of prem teams playing open football because they have a poor side in the grand scheme of things, hence why he played pragmatic compact football he played and its kept them up for 2 seasons now.

As St Pauli said, in the Championship with Newcastle (who had a much better squad than everyone else that season) they out scored and played everyone that season and he played good football because he new they had better players ect, Hughton wouldn't come up to us and play * footy because he isn't a * moron, same as if David Moyes or Jose came up to us (They wont) they aint gonna sit back against Livingston ect and play defensive football for * sake we are miles better than everyone else

Thing that puts me off Hughton is it feels like Tony Mowbray again.. decent enough championship/bottom half EPL manager but could he really handle the pressure and scrutiny of the Celtic job?

Chris Hughton should definitely be considered. Did a good job at Norwich, Newcastle and Brighton.

He took Birmingham to the EL group stages as well where they were unlucky not to qualify beyond Christmas, in a season where they finished fourth in the championship and lost narrowly to Blackpool in the playoffs.

He’s also got a fairly impressive CV as a coach and has always been highly regarded and well complimented.

I would prefer him to the likes of Clarke and Moyes tbh. In fact I would say he is probably my second choice out of all of the names (both realistic and unrealistic) being mentioned, after Rafa Benítez.

Houghton managing Newcastle in the Championship is a fair comparison of what he would be up against managing Celtic in the SPFL ( biggest club in division , most money , expected to win title ) - and he did very very well there, pretty much the best Championship season of all time. Had them playing unreal football and finished on over 100 points. He has it in his locker , think he could be a good fit.

I think it's strange that he's only 10 years into management as the head guy.

Feels like he's been floating about in manager roles for longer then that.

I'll be honest here. I had to google Championship top scorers 2009-2010 :giggle1:.

Carroll and Nolan both got 17 for Newcastle and Hooper 18 for Scunnie, however Whittingham was top scorer for Cardiff with 22.

Never realised he managed in the EL. Just had a look at their group and getting 10 points from that was a good return.

He seems to have a similar temperament as Rodgers. Quite calm.

Liking the sound of him a bit more.

I can't think of two people I would think are more different tbh. He has always come across as 100% honest no a con man. I said earlier one of my reservations is he is "too nice", however he is nothing like Rodgers imo.

By temperament I mean, not going to scream and shout at players. Hughton and Rodgers both come across as more of an arm around the shoulder guy, as opposed to guys who will dish out the hairdryer treatment.
