Would have liked gerry and the pacemakers to be there to sing you'll never walk alone live and would have been brilliant .

Sounds pretty brutal tbh. Very few people under 60 will be excited about that line up.

Could they no get The View, Rizzle Kicks or Louis Tomlinson to do a song or two? They've all played in charity games at Parkhead. Paolo Nutini would surely be interested as well.

I get that we're celebrating an event that happened 50 years ago but that doesn't mean all the music has to be 50 years old as well.

Think it was the McStay v Ferdinand game a couple of years ago.

    Edit: Next to Ferdinand

SIR Alex Ferguson has spoken of his honour at having been invited to be part of the special event in Glasgow to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s European Cup triumph in Lisbon.

The event will take place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, fifty years to the day when the famous Lisbon Lions team ensured Celtic became the first British team to lift the most prestigious prize in club football.

Net proceeds from the event will go to Celtic FC Foundation to assist its work of helping people in need locally, nationally and internationally.

The event, which is sponsored by creditfix, will be headlined by Sir Rod Stewart and will feature special guests from the world of football, music and entertainment as Glasgow is turned green and white to celebrate this momentous sporting triumph

And Sir Alex Ferguson will offer his own memories of Celtic’s European Cup success, and the players and manager who achieved it.

He was a Dunfermline Athletic player back in the 1966/67 season, and even scored two goals against the Hoops at Celtic Park on March 18, 1967, though Jock Stein’s side ran out 3-2 winners on their way to winning the title.

He told the official Celtic website: ““It’s an honour to have been invited to join the celebration of one of the greatest victories in the history of Scottish football.

“On the night of the game I was touring with the Scotland team and we were all sitting by the radio in Hong Kong, waiting for the hourly updates. When the final score came in, everyone celebrated the result.

“It should be a great event and I am really looking forward to catching up with some genuine legends of the game.”

The former Manchester United manager worked alongside Jock Stein as Scotland assistant manager in the 1980s, and has long cited him as a mentor and major influence on his own managerial career.

Indeed, when Ferguson steered Aberdeen to the European Cup-Winners’ Cup in 1983, where they faced Real Madrid in Gothenburg, he invited Jock Stein to travel with the Aberdeen party as his guest.

And in an interview last year with the Scottish FA, making the 30th anniversary of Jock Stein’s sad passing, Ferguson explained how he would quiz the former Hoops boss about his great Celtic team and pointing out that Jock would never take any personal credit but always praise the players.

“He was a man who achieved so much, yet was so humble about it. I loved working for him and it was a privilege I had.”

    Ticket Details:
Standard and Premium Season Ticket Holders will be given the chance to buy TWO tickets for the SSE Hydro event. Tickets go on sale from 10am this Thursday, March 23 and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Ticket prices will range from £25 - £70 and tickets will be available to buy online via Ticketmaster.
