Some of our fans talked about him like he was an Efe brainfart disaster and I just don't understand it, had a bit of a shakey start when the team was learning Ange's system but was really consistent after that.

I feel people would just have the same frustrations as they did with Scales and his use of the ball. Starfelt was hesitant under Ange and that system made it pretty easy to get the ball into midfield and through the lines. Hasn't been as much movement infront of the defence under Rodgers and I think we'd see that in Starfelts play. Better defender than Scales though

What many forget in our price categorie, we have always a risk. With him we get what we know and what we dont! Get him and another younger cb and we are good!

Kobayashi actually is pretty good on the ball - it's just everything else he can't do.

If true...hows the absolute shocking state of our scouting and recruitment.

    Joke.

While I would agree, absolutely. There is no doubt that he was a terrific defender and excellent positionally. If the opportunity has arisen to get him back, I can see why it would be very appealing, especially if the terms are similar to before.

I've said before, while I really liked him, I did want to have someone else in there to eventually take over from him because I did feel as if he was suspect with the ball at his feet. Defensively, he was very good, though. Would be the second best CB we have by an absolute country mile if he was brought back.

Would absolutely welcome Starfelt back, ship Lagerbielke and Kobayashi out, loan Nawrocki and Welsh to SPFL teams, sign Starfelt and McKenna, make Scales 4th choice and We're all good

He is an improvement over what we currently have, but I think we can do better.

The club won't spend significant money on a 29 year old.

The way you have to look at it is this way, he’s had a chance at Europe before and was found wanting.

He’s 29 so unless we are getting him for 1 million or something daft then I really don’t see the point.

We need to make sure we get someone in to partner CCV.

On the whole “on the ball” thing, I think Starfelt had the same issues in that the odd past was wild or under-hit, but in his defence he was playing on the wrong side.

The one thing he did far better than Scales (and what really irritates me about Scales) was moving the ball much quicker. It feels like it sometimes takes Scales a year to play a simple pass.

I completely disagree. Starfelts strengths are positional awareness, last ditch defending, tackling.

I’ve never been more terrified watching Celtic when Starfelt had the ball at his feet with opposition players closing him down, up there with Craig Gordon, genuinely had to turn away.

McKenna is better on the ball, stronger, taller, better in the air, faster. All of which I view as key fundamentals for a centre back.

I’d just much rather McKenna. Though I’d also rather another experienced CB in there too. Definitely not Starfelt

Genuinely don’t know what people were watching when it comes to Starfelt. It’s been said loads but too many folk base their opinion off his first few games here.

He’s comfortably our second best defender we’ve had since VVD. Was he great on the ball? No. But some of the hyperbole in here is embarrassing.

His passing wasn’t adventurous (because he wasn’t asked to do that) and he was guilty of sloppy passes. Did he lose the ball constantly under little pressure? No and it’s not even up for debate.

How anyone can compare him to Gordon, McKenna or Scales and keep a straight face is beyond me.

And I thought he was pish to begin with.

We do need someone in the mould of Ajer to come powering out of defence though. Starfelt doesn't give that option.

Think my position is I'd take him back as he built up a great partnership but I'd want someone else in too. We seen how often Scales was relied on to march out last season, really need someone better at doing that

Hard to find I get that but, that's what our scouts and imaginary head of recruitment should be doing.

Only way Starfelt comes back and improves on what he was is if he is deployed on the right hand side of CB.
