Disappointed he has left but wish him well. Did a good job for us for 2 years and was an important part of the success of the past 2 seasons. Hoped for a bit more on fee but it is at least a bit of profit and certainly we were never going to be making a big profit on his transfer.

Average player, left for a bird he's been seeing a few months. Wouldn't remember his name a few years from now if it wasn't so daft.

I'd be hard pressed to name you the centre halves of Rodgers' squads. I mind them being diabolical.

Good luck to big Carl in his future endeavours . Whatever his failings were , he was part of a successful team . And he added to our glorious history and trophy haul . The timing is not great , but we should put our faith into the recruitment process . And back to the hilt any new player .

    Good luck to him.

I must admit he was a favourite of mine.

Tremendous positional sense, particularly when the ball was fired across our goal. Always touch tight to his man.

Brilliant recovery pace, and had better use of the ball than he was given credit for. Solid in the air.

I think he’s comfortably the third best centre half we’ve had in the last 15 years or so behind CCV and van Dijk.

I've tried to forget. Much as we complain about the defence now, it was something else back then.

After two successful seasons at Celtic, Carl Starfelt made the move to Celta Vigo this summer.

    - They presented a good project where they want to invest and push up the table. They've brought in Rafa Benitez as a manager as well, so that felt like a good move to me. It's a dream I've had to come to a really big league, says the centre-back and continues to pay tribute to his new coach a little extra.

    - He is a really good coach who has been through a lot and achieved a lot in his career. You have a lot to learn from him.

The decision to move to La Liga was driven primarily by footballing reasons according to the player himself, but the headlines when the move became official were partly of a different nature.

    - He is obviously in a very strong relationship. He was honest about it when I came here and I really understand him, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said as Starfelt left.

    "Of course that's a plus"
He was referring to Starfelt's girlfriend, Jacynta Galabadaarachchi, moving to Sporting Lisbon earlier in the summer and the centre-back then wanting to move down to Europe to get closer to her.

    - It is clear that it is a plus. She and also my parents live in Lisbon, so it will be a bit closer. But above all, it was football that decided. It was maybe a little exaggerated in the media, so maybe I was a little shocked, laughs Starfelt when he is asked about the coach's words.

In conclusion, he is happy with his years at Celtic, and enters the national team collection with strong confidence after a fine start in Spain.

    - When you leave you get a little sentimental, even though I am convinced that I have come to enjoy myself in Spain. I will always be very grateful for my time at Celtic, you understand what a great club you have been a part of. I will look back on that when I retire, what good years I had there. I kept saying it would be something good for me to leave, and then this came up.

Not buying it that football was his primary reason for moving. :56:

I think he made that comment because there was no reason for the club (Manager) to say that the move was because of Jacynta. That is private to him i reckon he feels, so i can kind of get why he get a bit annoyed with that. All the best to him :50:
