Carter-Vickers has been a colossus for the Hoops since signing under Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2021, initially on loan.

So it’s no wonder newly-promoted Premier League sides Leeds United and Sunderland both like the American international powerhouse.

67 Hail Hail and our transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey understand Carter-Vickers is a potential target for both teams having got out of the EFL Championship last season.

Bailey told 67 Hail Hail: “There’s a lot of interest in Cameron Carter-Vickers. He’s had an exceptional few years.

“And I know that Ipswich looked closely last summer and they did have the funding. The player is very happy at Parkhead but is he ready to return to the Premier League? I think he might be from what I’m told.

“I think there’s a real chance that the newly promoted teams in the Premier League, the Leeds and Sunderlands of this world, getting someone like him.

“I think there’s a good three or four Premier League clubs, from what I’m told, who hold a serious interest in him and I think Celtic might be up against it keeping him.

“As we know, every player has his price in this Celtic squad. And I think there’s a real danger that Carter-Vickers leaves.

“That won’t go down well, but Celtic could probably get good money for him. What would he cost, £25-30m to sell him? That’s a lot of money for a centre-half at the moment. And I think there’s a real chance that he’s not at Celtic come the start of September.

Leeds like him a lot, and Sunderland. I know that he was on West Ham’s radar as well. To be fair, he’s got three, four, even five (clubs interested).

“He’s got quite a lot of interest there because he’s not, Premier League wise, on huge wages. He’s not a massive amount to buy and you’re getting a player who’s had a brilliant Champions League campaign.

What we also know for certain is if Leeds or Sunderland enter into a bidding war for Carter-Vickers, the price for him won’t be cheap.

Carter-Vickers is an indispensable squad member for Brendan Rodgers and has captained the side in the absence of Callum McGregor.

He’s made every single PFA Scotland Team of the Yearsince he joined from Tottenham Hotspur, before a permanent £6m switch to Parkhead.

Carter-Vickers is contracted at Celtic until 2029, and only a few other players are also in that bracket. It means a fee of between £25-30m is realistic for the centre-back.

  3. Feel like the big man is as solid as they come in terms of commitment. He may fancy a new challenge but if we don't get offered big money and he has to stay, he'll be more than happy to carry on.

25-30 mil is about right for what he brings imo. If he wants to go I'd respect his wishes without hesitation as he's been immense for us.

HOPEFULLY it doesn't happen though. One more year King.

  4. Would need to be 30 million … and a lot of that would need to be reinvested for 2 first choice centre backs.

    Hoping he doesn’t go.

  5. Players & Managers have a shelf life of usually 2-3 years, getting as as long we have out CCV has been excellent. You can't grudge a player wanting to move to a bigger league & test himself after giving us 4 years. If he wants to go, sell the big man for 30 mill then buy him back for 15 mill in 18months :56::56:

This is the big difference with us & the huns. We sell at the right time. The things that makes this work is to keep bringning sellable players in.

He’d be mad to go to either of those. Both will go straight back down.

I’d be worried about Rodgers replacing him. Never had an eye for a centre half.

  7. Not surprised to see leeds looking at him.

If you were at the huns and new owners asked which players would we miss the most and find hardest to replace CCV, McGregor and Maeda would be the top 3.

Improves Leeds but also benefits the huns by weakening us. Wouldn't be surprised if they came sniffing around Maeda too.

Although dont think either player would view a relegation battle with Leeds as career progression.

  8. Got a feeling he will go this summer.

For all those saying he won't want to go here or there , carrer progression etc.....remember it boils down to money 99% of the time.

  9. It doesn't always. Players get fed up playing in the league as well

  10. So you think he would move for less money because he's bored of the league ?
He will move for a pay rise , same as anyone else.

Aye we already need another first choice CB minimum. So I'd want the vast majority of that on a couple quality options.

Might not be away this summer wonder

But he’ll be away in January or next season

  13. 100%. We can keep him for another season and still get top dollar next summer ( he will be 28). But he will leave no later than that, need to cash in at some point.

Aye he’ll go for a good amount of dollars

Only paid what was it for him 5 or 6 million

  15. If we were offered anything above £20 mill he should be gone. Probably right time to cash in. Would need to get the replacement right.

  16. Good luck with that with a manager that cant spot a decent one if his life depended on it

  17. Aye hope for me would be CCV and someone of the same level as his partner.

Scales and Trusty don’t fill me with confidence as starters.

  18. They did fairly well when CCV was out injured. Still prefer him to stay.

  19. It's the formula, it's the plan. If we didn't cash in on what went before him he wouldn't have been signed in the first place...
