He can't be relied upon for an extended period of time. Imagine we needed to win this game?

Desperately need a new starting level CB in the Summer.

I'm assuming he probably would have played if we needed to win

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ruled out for Celtic against Aston Villa.

The centre-back will not feature in the Champions League tie due to injury.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the USA internationalist picked up a niggle in the win over Young Boys last week.

However, the defender could return at the weekend with Carter-Vickers sitting out as a precaution with "no need to risk him".

Rodgers confirmed: "Cameron Carter-Vickers is out for the game. He'll be okay for the weekend, we are pretty sure.

"But he just felt something in the last game so there's no need to risk him.

There was no need to risk him in this game anyway.

Not that arsed. Least he's not out long.

This game is a free hit for me. As long as we don't make a fool of ourselves.

What I would say, is he does pick up a fair few niggles over a season. Would be spending on a CB in the summer.

    Slotsager in for peanuts meantime.

We definitely need to be looking for another RCB capable of standing in for him and ready to take over as I think we will be looking to cash in on him sooner rather than later. He’ll be hard to replace as he’s unbelievable and like all our best players we look to cash in when the times right. He will also be looking for a new challenge soon I’d imagine.

    21/22 - 46 games
    22/23 - 39 games
    23/24 - 30 games
24/25 - 26 games with 20 games plus to go

Doesn’t look like someone that can’t be relied upon. I get that it’s frustrating when he’s missing because of how important he is but advocating for a replacement as a result of him not always being available is a mental take.

I'm not advocating for his replacement, I'm advocating for another CB on his level (or better, ideally) to step in and rotate when necessary.

He's missed loads of games; many of those important ones in the last couple of years.

I love CCV and he's easily the best since VVD but we do need to get a beast of a centre back to partner him and cover him when he's out.

See I don’t have any issue with Trusty, Scales and a homegrown prospect personally after him, we will not be able to keep another centre half of CCV’s ability happy within that context.

Will be a big miss defensively, but no need to risk him. Saw its been mentioned on a previous page, but it’s been doing my heid in the amount of times he can either bring it down or even let it run through to Schmeichel but just aimlessly heads it to the opposition. Just gifting possession away.

Sounds more like he could play but no point in a meaningless game.
