CCV won't play on that pitch at the weekend.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty put in yet another impressive display against RB Leipzig at the heart of the Hoops' defence as they continue to strike up a bond on the park. They also starred together at Hampden in the 6-0 hammering of Aberdeen but were both posted missing from training earlier today.

But Rodgers has lifted any fears over the defensive duo insisting they should be fine for the weekend trip to Kilmarnock and their absences are just down to some extra recovery time. They will take part in a light session tomorrow with the boss hopeful of naming the same squad for the game at Rugby Park on Sunday

He added: "Yeah we will just assess that. I think they will be fine but we just need to give them that extra wee bit of recovery time. Do a light session tomorrow and hopefully all being well the same squad."

No chance I'd be playing him on that excuse for a football pitch with his injuries..

I’ve always said the injury thing with plastic pitches, but teams with they pitches don’t have a higher amount of injuries generally. Just a quick google on it always has the caveat of a well maintained one though, Killies pitch is *. Thats why they want rid of it even if the timelines been extended.

Looking at it, it has more injuries on players joints, grass has more muscular injuries. Hamstring injuries being far worse on grass, according to one study that I’ll caveat I’ve read the summary of findings not the study or who done it. Jozo not being allowed to play on artificial grass we’ve taken it as it’s all injuries, he was not muscular ones. So it depends on the type of injury’s for CCV, we don’t actually know the ins and outs of what he’s had. It was knee surgery and then toe I think, that would suggest not muscles to me. But the sports science team will say yes or no. Us never actually taking him away from games on plastic, makes me think if hes fit he will play though.

I think his lack of reliability ironically will be the thing that keeps us here.

I think he'd have left alongside Jota during Rodgers first season if he was more fit, or last summer at the latest.

There were offers in the summer one of them being Atalanta and another was Galatasaray. He will have suitors again if he largely stays fit, it will come down to what he wants for himself and career, also will any of them pay what we want?

He'll be 27 next month, has finally absolutely locked down a first team/first pick with a big club, getting all his international games and winning trophies for a good wage.

For suitors, he's getting to the point where it's getting more risky to plump up the big fee for a player who's ageing and has possible injury concerns. Don't imagine many putting down the fee we'd expect for him.

I've a feeling he won't rush anywhere unless it's the RIGHT club for him. Not sure what that would be, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of nibbles, but not many/any actual bites...

I could see a Serie A team taking a punt on him if he keeps showing up well, 27 is coming into your prime years as a centre back, his injuries may well deter some clubs but it will come down to him. I think if he says he wants a move the club would be understanding but we would still want a good fee for him, it might not be as high as some would think though.

It could be viewed that we got him in on loan, paid £6m or so to get him and would take £15m+ add ons after 4 years good service. I hope not, his injuries are a worry but he is a class act back there when available and clearly leads the defence as we are a different animal with him back there.

He isn’t amazing on the ball but better than it first appears. Defensively more often than not he is impeccable.

Is he called up to the USA team or is he going to pull out of that?

Hopefully he can use these two weeks to rehab and we can get him in the team properly for the next run of games through to the cup final and beyond.

    Ideally he would play:

    - Start at Tyncastle possibly an hour.
    - full game vs Club Brugge
    - Rest vs Ross County at Home
    - Full game or most of it vs Aberdeen
    - Rest for Hibs
    - full game vs Dinamo Zagreb
    - Full game vs Them in cup final.
