I get the impression that * of a US manager doesn't rate him, which is good news for us.
Break comes at good time for him.

By the time we play hearts they'll end up with a new manager and suddenly play better. We'll probably need him. Hope his toe recovers quick.

Thought he was a little out of sorts too, but still comfortable enough. Definitely not a great game from him, but everything we needed is fine. Hope he rests up and back to best form again soon

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS is expected to be fit for Celtic’s return to action against Hearts on September 14.

The USA international was spotted wearing a moon-boot as he left Parkhead following yesterday’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Rangers.

But SunSport understands it was more precautionary for what’s understood to be a knock in his left foot suffered against St Mirren last week.

Since then the 26-year-old – outstanding in the derby victory – has trained through it while boss Brendan Rodgers decided to allow him to miss Friday's session in order to ensure he was available to face Rangers.

Carter-Vickers was a typically strong presence at the back for the champions for the entire game.

He briefly pulled up in the second half after a challenge but soon carried on

Carter-Vickers hasn't been included in the USA 24-man squad for friendlies against Canada and New Zealand.

He will now be able to go easy for the fortnight international break before the return to domestic action against the Jambos which will give Celtic the chance to go eight points clear of Rangers who play Dundee United at Tannadice 24-hours later.

Rodgers was quizzed on the defender's condition ahead of yesterday's 3-0 win over their rivals.

Asked whether he would be out long-term following his absence from training, he said: "No, it's just about giving him a wee day of recovery.

Sometimes we do that in our sessions.

"When players are overloaded, we can take one or two out and give them a recovery day having worked hard all week."

He’s just better than anycunt he comes up against in this league, anytime anyone came near him yesterday there was zero worries in my mind that he doesn’t come out on top, and he knows it as well. Love him man

Van Dijk is/was the better player, but Cameron has been better for Celtic.

Explains why he was missing from training Friday.

2 weeks off and he’ll be fine I’m sure.

It got to the point where VVD was playing when he fancied it really. Rampaging up the park, taking freekicks and back heel flicks from corners, it geniunely got too easy for him here.

I agree though CCV has been the best defensive centre backs we have had for a long time. The two together would have been some partnership.

He's so important for us. Just deals with everything with no fuss, absolutely solid.

Honestly, this guy....* * does he ever do anything wrong?

He's absolutely world class. Does absolutely everything brilliantly. Knows exactly when to engage and everything from his desire to his technique is always on point. I've never seen a centre-back for Celtic be as dominant as him and, * it, I'm including Van Dijk in that.

Looks like a da playing against waens. We're so, so lucky to have him. Could genuinely play anywhere.
