I heard a rumour (I know, I know) that he was happy and settled with us and didn't want to go anywhere.

 

Well fingers crossed this rumour isn't made up bullshit like most are.

Completely understandable tbh.

He played for about 32 teams before coming to us. You get the impression he understands how good it is to be settled at a club, plays whenever he is fit, first choice, adored by the fans, loves his reputation at the club, loves winning, plays for a big club, plays European football etc.

He must know how good it is here.

 

I hope your rumour is correct. To me he is the only player in our squad, alongside McGregor that we can’t lose. He is so solid at the back.

 

Came to say all of this, but you got it all, except for the fact that he's only a few months ago signed a 5.5year deal too. That deal would take him to 32yo. If he'd been keen to jump I'd imagine he wouldn't have extended for so long...

Can't see him going anywhere for a season or 2, unless a big team comes in for him. But I've been wrong, and gutted, before...

 

By some distance he is the best defender in the league IMHO.

As others have said , the ONLY player outside of Kyogo that I'd really fear losing.

It always takes us YEARS to replace the quality we lose to "bigger markets".

VVD, Wanyama, KT, Demble, Jota... Even the likes of players either off the boil or not high up on their development like Ajer or Eddy.

Losing CCV will see us * about on the market for 4 windows, * away half the fee we would get for him on cheap punts and barely scouted mucklords until we either strike lucky or find a loan with an option to buy after a full season audition. Case in point ; Starfelt. By no means a world beater but still no solid replacement.

We simply can't lose CCV. Best defender in the country by a mile, and essential for Europe next season.
I shudder to * think what Jack Hendry/ Gary Caldwell hybrid fuckpot would be in his place for the CL, if we were to lose him.

 

There was a press conference about a year ago where he was asked by the *-stirring Scottish main stream media if he would fancy a move back down to England. Unfortunately he most certainly didn’t rule it out in fact if you had to read between the lines it sounded like he would quite fancy it if the right club came in for him.

The way the Scottish main stream media desperately want any quality Celtic player out of the club is frankly disgusting. I would 100% have any of these rats banned from press conferences who ask questions that are essentially ‘So why are you still here? Surely you want to leave for a bigger club’ and ‘Don’t you know English clubs are interested in you? Why are you still here?’. It’s absolutely scandalous, these are the same clowns who complain about the standard of Scottish football then want any Celtic player out the door who shows the first signs of being a top quality player. They are absolute snakes and wouldn’t have them anywhere near our players.

 

He is the 2nd highest paid player at the club. Our vice captain. He won't go anywhere
