Don't think we've ever had a better actual defender. Sure we've had your fancy vvds and ajers who would be a perfect partner, but as an actual defender? He's above them all imo.

 

If only we could find a left sided version of him, one of the best defenders that I’ve seen at us. Also think he’s happy to stay with us

CCV, arguably our most important player.

 

Not quite for me. Virgil, Elliot and Rieper are ahead of him IMO. But he's up there with Balde, Mjallby, Denayer, etc.

 

Totally. I take it for granted with CCV; but AJ surprised me a little (in a good way). More performances like that will change my mind about AJ. More performances like that from CCV will just cement his place as one of the best defenders we've een here.

He is incredible. Solid, composed, threatening and so switched on.

Definitely a "silent assassin" - can't recall ever seeing him even as much as shouting at somecunt!

What I did notice from the weekend's game, and i'll call this a great tactic from Rodgers, played Vickers deeper than Scales and just let him mop up everything and allowed him to marshall an entire area, leaving Scales with a bit less responsibilty.

We need to be doing everything in our power to keep him here as long as possible, a collosus we cannot afford to replace.

The highest praise I can give him is that he's the one player I really fear losing if he were to go this summer as I just don't see how we replace him. Yeah it'll be hard if O'Riley goes, but despite him being the better footballer, with more potential, he'll actually be the easier of the 2 to get a replacement for.

Hope to * he stays, but it's a concern, particularly with Southampton now back in the EPL.

 

Never seen Elliot play to make that comparison. Virgil went onto another level that CCV can't reach but CCV arguably been a better Celtic defender. I rate him higher than Mjallby, Balde, Rieper etc

 

CCV has been a better player than Virgil was. Virgil was nowhere near the player he became when he was at us

 

I would even say that he has been more solid for us than what VVD was. Best CB i have seen at the club since early 2000s. By FAR the one player i am most afraid of losing.
