Honestly would have expected something like a two year extension to his current deal, really puts a marker down for both protecting the value of our assets and showing the player how much faith we have in them.

That's fantastic! Great news! CCV's had a few issues this season so far with injuries but hopefully now with those behind hi and the long term future secured, will be able to get back to his best and really push the team on to the title and beyond.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has become the latest Celt to commit his long-term future to the club, having today signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal which will see him remain at Paradise until 2029.

The 26-year-old defender has already made over a century of appearances from the Hoops since joining back in the summer of 2021, initially on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

And having enjoyed plenty of success already in the green and white Hoops, the American internationalist is aiming for much more in the months and years ahead.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV after signing his new deal, Carter-Vickers said: “I’ve been here now for two-and-a-half years and I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

“I really enjoy working with the coaching staff and obviously the two managers that I’ve had in my time here, and I just want it to continue.

“When I look back on the past two-and-a-half years, I’ve won a lot of football games, played in the Champions League, which is always a special occasion, and won a lot of trophies, so it’s been good. But now it’s about kicking on and trying to win more.

“On a personal level, I want to continue to improve and to help the team win games and, obviously, as a team, to win as many games as we can and hopefully that leads to more success.”

Agree totally. The tight fisted * on the board will portray this as “a new signing”.

 

What's interesting is that technically it's a contract for his career - I know he'd have years left in him, but it's the entire prime of his career there. Contracts aren't worth crap these day, but it still feels like a good commitment from big CCV.
