As some have said the silver lining in this is it's unlikely anyone makes any serious bids for him if he's out over the summer, but even if they did he's only a year into his deal with us so we're in a great position.

If he’s out over the full summer will he be able to do any conditioning training? Might take him a few months after that to get back up to speed.

Cameron Carter Vickers WILL be back in time for the start of the season after undergoing a successful operation for a knee injury that ended the Celtic stopper’s campaign.

Some reports suggested the former Tottenham Hotspur man could miss the the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership kick off as a result of going under the knife. But Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou, looking to seal two-in-a-row with a victory at Hearts on Sunday, dismissed any of those fears over the 25-year-old USA international.

Postecoglou told Sky Sports: “He’s had the surgery, he’s on his way back and it went really well and he’ll be alright for the start of the season, I’m sure. It’s a great boost. He was really keen to play up until last weekend. He knew how important that was in the context of our season and he's a very important part of our set-up and our team.

He’s been carrying that injury for quite a while and at the same time he’s never used it as an excuse for a performance. He’s just got on with things and been outstanding. It’s good for him because now he knows he can get himself ready for pre-season and ready to go for next year knowing he’s contributed significantly to what’s happened this year.

That is great news that he will be fit for the start of the season before that US report the suggested timeline seemed to be 8 - 12 week recovery and that timeline Ange is speaking off seems more along those lines.

Didn’t you just love it when he rag dolled the wee, fat Columbian striker, by pushing him effortlessly to the ground?

Haste ye back young man, you’ve much more hun-skelping to do.

    Hail Hail.

Great news, was worried he'd miss pre season and take a while to get upto scratch.

Where did he have the surgery, I thought it would have been in the UK?

Reckon he will be hitting the gym bigtime, scary the nick of him when season starts, muscles on muscles.
For me, that last performance nails on the POY awards for him.

Cameron Carter-Vickers gives update on knee surgery but no date set for Celtic return
Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has not a put a timeline on his return to first-team action after having knee surgery but says he is feeling “positive” about his recovery.

The 25-year-old centre-half went under the knife following Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final triumph over Rangers at the end of April to cure a knee issue that has been troubling him for much of the season. Regarded as Celtic’s best performing defender this season, his absence was keenly felt in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Ibrox. The American will miss the rest of the season and the player himself is unsure as to when he will return to first-team action.

Speaking to CBS back in the United States, Carter-Vickers said: “The knee is as good as it can be, I got surgery last week. I’m just rehabbing from that and it’s still early days so it’s hard to put a timeline on it at the moment. But I’m positive about it and I’m sure I’ll be back as soon as possible

Thank * he played through the pain to get us into the Scottish cup final btw. If he took that op early like Ange wanted the game against the huns would have been tough.

And Joe Hart aside, CCV is still the player with the most minutes played this season. 2610min.

CalMac is next best (2489min) before today.

It was apparent to any one with 2 eyes he is head and shoulders our best defender.

Maybe what wasn’t as apparent is how bad the drop off is when he’s not about.

This. I get that Walsh is also unavailable through injury and Scales is out on loan, but even if they were there it wouldn't be an entirely reassuring thought, to say the least.
