I actually thought this myself at one point but I do no longer for two reasons. The first was an interview with Stokes directly and he specifically mentioned how decent Lawwell was to him over the whole getting his attacked and whatnot. I appreciate that he would not bad mouth the boss in public but I beleive he was sincere. And another reason was that I asked a boy I know who always seems to have the inside info and he said naw it had nothing to do with Lawwell and it was a personal thing between Deila and Stokes, I was dirnking at the time and it was loud but I think John Collins's name was mentioned as well.

Wont we look like the biggest mugs in the history of sport if the unthinkable happens? Also I agree that Stokes's strengths might not be suited to top level European level. Europa he is fit for that no bother. He's a very underrated player, not a world beater by any means but better than what we have currently in our first 11 and by some distance too.

Stokes actually scored a lot of his goals against Aberdeen and Dundee Utd, he also scored more often away from home than at home.

He scored 31 goals in 62 games against Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts and Hibs.

38 in 87 against Kilmarnock, Ross County, Inverness, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Hamilton, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Motherwell.

Fair enough if you think that, I don't really disagree tbh.

I don't think the likes of Cole, Ciftci even Armstrong deserve game time ahead of Stokes but I think we should be aiming higher than all of these players. Stokes isn't the answer.

I 100% agree with that. In fact I have said that many times myself. We have to face certain realities though. Are we going to find a player who offers us what Stokes does and how much will it cost us? Look at the amount of dud strikers we have signed in the last 5 years. At the minute we have a player who can do a job far better than many of our first team regulars and we dont use him. * like?

Right, for most of the time in Stokes' career here Aberdeen and especially Hibs were * :smiley-laughing002: He scored a hattrick in the 9-0 game against the Sheep didn't he?

Look as I've said plenty of times, Stokes isn't an awful player by any means but he's not really that great either. We should be aiming higher as a club.

Armstrong has only scored 3 this season all in.

Still have remained one of the teams most likely to take points off us though and he always performed against them.

He has 10 goals and 9 assists against Aberdeen in 15 games for us.

Our other players records against Aberdeen...

    Commons 17 Games 10 Goals 4 Assists
    Griffiths 9 Games 5 Goals 0 Assists
    Forrest 11 Games 3 Goals 0 Assists
    Johansen 8 Games 2 Goals 1 Assist
    GMS 3 Games 1 Goal 0 Assists
    Armstrong 5 Games 0 Goals 2 Assists

Only really Commons out all our other players has a good record against them. Stokes could have made the difference.

About right for me. He's a good enough player who has done well for us in spells. Despite being out the picture for so long he retains some sort of reverence that wouldn't be afforded to other players, although that is more to do with him being a fashionable player to back amongst our support.

Really that is an odd way to look at it as I actually think it is the opposite. I think it's actually fashionable to bash Stokes. He is not afforded the respect he deserves. It was also fashionable to bash Commons and Griff at times as well. Look at Rogic and the hero worship he gets after a half dozen decent games and a few good ones. Stokes has done ten times for Celtic than Rogic has done. When Stokes was out of the team as well he had very few backers and the silence when he was allowed to go on loan to Hibs was deafening which was a scandal in itself.

Fair to say that many have short memories when it comes to players (Stokes included) and prone to 'flavour of the month' hype.

But I still thimk Stokes is revered a lot more than he warrants and this goes outside forums obviously.

If he is guilty of drink driving then he is a selfish, idiotic bell end.

Depends on the level for me. If he's went out and got wasted and drove home he's a *.

If he had a pint at dinner at and was just over the limit 5 hours or so later, he's just unlucky.

    I don't know the specifics.

I guarantee you one pint five hours ago would not see you over the limit.

It doesn't, there's a 0% chance that one pint 5 hours before driving would see any * human being capable of driving a car over the legal alcohol limit.

Unless it was a pint of vodka. But beer or cider, not a hope.

    Sleeping it off?

Whether it’s okay to drive the next morning depends on how much you’ve drunk – and if you’ve left enough time for your system to get rid of the alcohol.

“The amount of alcohol in your bloodstream depends on three things,” says Dr Paul Wallace, Drinkaware's Chief Medical Adviser. “The amount you take in, over what period of time and the speed at which your body gets rid of it.”

In general, alcohol is removed from the blood at the rate of about one unit an hour. But this varies from person to person. It can depend on your size, how much food you’ve eaten; the state of your liver, and your metabolism (how quickly or slowly your body turns food into energy).

“Imagine you’re drinking until three or four in the morning and you wake up at 8am,” says Dr Wallace. “If you’ve had six or seven units, you could still have several units of alcohol in your body when you start your day. This is because your body can only process around one unit an hour. With several units of alcohol still in your body you would still be over the drink drive limit.”

This guy seems like a *, if he's not speeding he's drunk driving and pulling Celtics name through the mud. Get rid of him ASAP. He would probably jump at the chance to go to Rangers anyway.
