Stokes is out of the team because he didn't score in 26 of his 27 European appearances for us. He's a forward. Surely you can see some connection there?

 

He is out for according to Deila "discipline" reasons. We have seen Griff, Commons, & Brown breach discipline and get away with it. Stokes has been hung out to dry. Now this is the most serious breach yet from Callum. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

For the record it didnt sit right with me how Stokes was treated and I dont want to see Callum treated the same for being young and stupid. But this is dangerous for the management team and they need to be careful here.

I dont want people to get the wrong idea. If we had a genius talent I would let him away with some things that other players would not get away with e.g. Gazza, Ronaldinho etc. What I hate is victimizing a single player and making a big show of it, if you are not going to treat every breach the same.

There is a big difference in letting a genius off with things and picking on a player for the sake of proving a point.

Exactly. It would be hard to breach discipline even more to be honest. There is no excuse at all and he should be punished. People are always going to do something stupid though so as a club we cant back ourselves into a corner with how we handle them. Punish them and move on is the optimal solution but in this case I dont think they can after the show that was made about another player.

Have to wait and see if it's true first of all, if it is then no excuses. You put yourself and others in danger by drink driving it's not acceptable and Stokes or Deila has * all to do with it.

 

Exactly you seen my name and you went for it. You accuse me of using an emotive issue to point score regarding the Stokes situation and you use the exact same issue to do the same with me.

This does bring up and interesting dilemma for the managerial team though as I have highlighted and I am not having a go at them because I dont know how they will handle it.

In responce to Dealer, I hope you are not including me in this lynch mob. I have stated that I would like to see a pragmatic approach to punishment i.e. do it and move on. I dont see how they cant throw the book at him though becuase Stokes was hung out to dry for disicpline breaches and this incident is as bad as you can get so you would expect the punishment to be the same i.e. McGregor never to feature for Deila for 6 months followed by a loan?

To TimFloyd, your point is what I am getting at although I disagree that McGregor offers more than Stokes but Deilas perception is that he does, which will make this interesting.

 

You would cut some players a little slack but at the same time you complain that all players have not been treated the same as stokes.....?

And no im not saying any of our players are up there with Ronaldino,but you are sending out mixed signals here.

 

People want griff replaced because he is not good enough...the same people want stokes in the team despite not scoring in 23 games in europe.

I tried to make that clear. My philosophy is that some players do get a bit of slack. Myth let Gazza do what he wanted and the likes of McInnes etc had different rules altogether. This is because special talent should be treated differently and even the players know this.

So I dont want to have any confusion that I do indeed support some players being cut a little slack over others. In this case though I think everyone would agree that neither Stokes or McGregor are flawed geniuses so their cases should be dealt with on an even keel.
