Genuine question: is it possible that there's a bug going around at Lennoxtown and Engels isn't the only one slightly ill? I'm honestly wondering that. When have we ever seen so many players have such terrible games?

More than anything for me is that he seems so quiet in games where the rest of the team are not at it. He should have been tearing strips off of Bernardo and Hatate - especially Hatate in the first half. Meek and weak when the other team gets in our face and everything is too slow and goes backwards.

He’s towing a caravan these days. He used to be a whippet covering huge amounts of ground. Now he looks like he’s struggling with the pace.

Would drop him but not convinced of the alternatives.

My unpopular opinion is that Cal is not much of a captain. You always hear the 'he leads by example' pish. * that, you sometimes need a captain to get people fired up or to settle them down. Like you say, you never see him engage in that. Taylor and Schmeichel will do it while Cal stands by and watches. I don't like that.

I have to say though I thought he was one of our better players today but a good captain needs to lift everybody.

Completely isolated today but his individual performance was terrible.

When Brendan was at Leicester he played Ndidi at CDM, he must know that position demands a far more physical presence against a higher level of opposition, sentiment is getting in the way here of Brendan making the right decision for the good of the team in the tougher matches, a physical CDM should be a priority January signing but I doubt it's on Brendan's mind

Think the problem is finding a physical presence who is also good on the ball (which is essential for the way we play), within our price range, is incredibly hard.

Sadly... this is very accurate. Bossed by an odious idiotic looking stunted footballer. His influence is absolutely waning in the games against the mutants.

Tbh mate I don't think it's that hard to get a decent CDM who can play a bit. Not asking for Rodri Mk II - just someone who can do the defensive dirty work and give the ball to our progressive midfielders to play. We almost had Vini Souza under Ange, so I'm sure there are plenty of others out there.

Let's be honest, you very rarely see McGregor play a fabulous through ball or a pass that makes you think 'wow' anymore. Once every 4 or 5 games, if that. Wanyama was severely limited on the ball but it didn't really matter.

Someone like Big Vic would transform this team, but his possession stats wouldn't be good enough for BR or something.

Would like to see us try McGregor further up with Engels or Hatate sitting. Failing that, I think he’d benefit from a rest.

His best football has always been when he's playing forward even this season with the amount of goals he scored in the early part everything positive he does is going forward which is why I have never understood the reasoning for him as the only holding mid in every tough game

So just to be clear.....McGregor is pish aswell now? Is that what the consensus is??

It's a good job Henrik Larsson and Jinky weren't playing today or they'd have been pish and needing dropped aswell...

The whole 'supporting' the team idea...is lost on some 'supporters'.

He was pish and also hiding behind folk not wanting the ball. But again, his 2 mates are deployed way too far up the park for us to get any sort of grip on the game.

His performances have been hot and cold for 18 months.

Literally had these same conversations last season.. and we have no one to rotate him with (nor would Rodgers drop him for a few games barring injury).

Is the consensus that he’s pish? Missed that.

From what I can see there’s people, quite rightly, criticising after another really poor performance in a season where he’s not been anywhere near his best.

People get far too attached to players and can’t cope with any justified criticism. It’s properly weird.
