Far from the first time either. He absolutely can go toe to toe at that level, thats the first time I’ve seen everyone else match that level, and he went one step above that with everyone else operating at that level.

Not just the other 10 guys, Bernardo done it, * Yang done it.

But Calmac showed his class more because others stepped up to allow him to play the wee one twos, to be intricate, to cover him when he went direct to them and carried the ball. Nobody should doubt his quality in that position, the thing is when you’re a deep lying playmaker others need to step up around you conducting the game. That was the best us seeing that. The other was 45 minutes against Real, him and Modric had near identical stats, McGregor winning that battle first half Modric 2nd. He is the player with the highest level of quality in him. And people doubt it because he’s committed that to just us his full career. If he’d jumped ship down south, and producing the exact same level we see, we’d be gutted he left.

It’s like the idiom of if McStay was that good why did he not leave to prove himself, if Danny McGrain was that good and had offers from the likes of Milan why did he not and how could we know…. Watch these guys. And Calmac, I include with guys like that.

Yeah I've said this before, it's never been about whether or not Cal can do it on the big stage, it's more to do with who he has around him and how they are playing. Even the best DM's can't win games themselves if their team mates don't turn up.

There have been poor performances from him btw, no doubt. But he's been written off by too many folk as not capable when he blatantly is. To chuffed he's now getting the support to be able to show it.

Me and my brother have talked about this before and we think it’s green specs off football fan opinion - I’d be confident if placed in any of the elite teams midfield like Barca, Real, City, Bayern he could keep up and not be a man down.

Not a stand out or running the show like for us, but would keep up, not be hinderance to them, and would adapt to play off them make them better. And I fully stand by that.

Other of the best midfielders I’ve seen here my favourites I don’t think I could say that confidently, unless Lubos included, Petrov was great and played in the Premiership and was key for Villa adapted his role from us to them. Lambert * won a CL marking Zidane out the game and I still don’t think i could confidently say that unless a more defensive team like Atletico Madrid. Wanyama the same, Broony might be my favourite ever and the same….

But Calmac, I’ll say it confidently and don’t think thats bias from me that, or else the others I would say the same thing.

Also really, DM and his role are different things. Pirlo was the Calmac role, Pirlo was not a * DM and guys who watch us and say DM for McGregor watched him and never would say the same.

Whether you want a proper anchorman DM hard * there, rather than the playmaker and player that makes us tick, thats a matter of style. I wanted a mix of it thinking we can’t do it against teams better than he, up until Tuesday
