He must hold a record for games played in a calender year?
Doing 60 games a season and rarely injured.

In the famous words of drago....he is not human. He's a machine

    .

Callum McGregor has returned to training after being out injured since the end of February, and a final call will be made on his availability following a final training session on Saturday.

The return of the Hoops captain would be a massive boost for a fixture that he has enormous experience of, and success in, and Brendan Rodgers feels that his squad is in better shape for the derby compared to the previous meetings this season.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, the Celtic manager said: “We’ll do one final run with Callum tomorrow in our last session but he’s done remarkable to be back.

“He’s way ahead of schedule from what we thought, but it just shows you his professionalism and how hard he’s worked, so he’ll be involved in the squad, and if he is, then it’s great news for us in every capacity, because we’ll have a clean bill of health for probably the first time this season. But we’ll make a final call on that tomorrow.

'He’s been in the training so clearly his quality is there, but we just have to gauge whether he starts, whether he comes into the game or what involvement he has

He was top 3 in the world games played 3 years running at one point anyway, along with Tierney.

I think world record is actually Pedri, who after playing the Euros and going straight into the Olympics had 80 odd, at far too young an age and it’s broke him a bit since then that.

There’s some guys that just do that year in year out, put in massive effort and workrate and running week in week out almost every game and don’t seem to be effected by it. Ronaldo was the biggest freak of nature for that, Messi to a slightly lesser extent after getting over injuries when he was younger.

Biggest example just now is Bruno Fernandes, who’s never missed a game through injury in his career which is a * remarkable record. Calmac’s one of they ones, and even when he picks up an injury, he * Wolverine’s it:56:

Consistently been the fittest guy in the team for years, and isn’t the guy you’d point towards to say that about most of that time, looking like a pale wee Scottish guy with no muscle definition:56:

Had a bad injury quite young as well. But since then he's been just relentless

He seems to be one of those players that just naturally has an incredible level of innate fitness. So I have no worries about him on that score. Is he actually fully recovered from his injury that's a completely different question.

I sure hope your right. That would be a massive boost for the weekend to have a truly recovered McGregor in the lineup.

A lot of it probably is natural but since Rodgers first stint at the club, McGregor has been the ultimate professional and made sure of his fitness and taking care of himself.

One of my favourite ever goals against them that, just the sheer acoustics of it as well. Heard the net ripple, then the crowd going bonkers. Was almost like a delayed response.

Listening back to Rodgers on Callum, first thing he says is he'll be part of the squad, before backtracking a bit..

If part of the squad he starts, psychologically he's massive, the Huns fear him.. 60mins please Callum.

Squad refers to the starting XI + the bench.

Of course, but if he's fit enough for the squad he likely starts.

I'd rather not see a starting midfield of him, Hatate and O'Riley. Not away to the mob who have a competent manager, not in bad weather+pitch, and not with 2 of them being at less than 100%.

    Its great to have options..

But, wouldn't be surprised if we start with exactly that.

I had honestly hoped that the shoehorning of Callum into the DMF position was a thing of the past. People are wetting their pants over the refereeing on Sunday. Best way to mitigate the issue is to put an expert tackler in front of the backline, and not an OK tackler.
