This man has set and demanded the standard!!! He learned from a great Celtic captain however he’s embraced the responsibility without question.

The supreme leader. A real joy to watch, truly one of the greatest to ever wear the hoops in my lifetime. Everything from how he moves about the pitch to his weighted passes is sublime.

 

Double checked bud and you're right. He could be on 20 trophies for celtic and over 50 caps for Scotland before he's 30 outstanding

 

The real pleasure is ours getting to watch this guy give (most likely) his entire career to the club as a player and now captain. Outstanding player, outstanding captain and a bonfide Celtic legend

 

He's a credit to the club. Speaks so well and is a leader on and off the park.

Just never let's us down. Any other player who has performed like him would have been a player of the year candidate, but we are all probably a bit guilty taking him for granted as its just what he does, week in week out.

 

He is already a legend in my eyes reliable, consistent, a fighter and a real leader. You cant buy a player with qualities like that.

 

That run he made up the wing then cut inside, * unreal. What a player this guy is. Legend.

 

Trophy number 19 for him, Lennox is our most decorated on 25 with McNeil behind on 23 and brown on 22. Most likely he will finish on 20 this season, within the next 3 years he will likely be our most decorated player of all time

 

Forrest surely in there somewhere? He not on the verge of being Celtic's most decorated player, nah?

EDIT- Just checked, he's on 22 the now. Will go up to 23 with the Scottish Cup if we win that. Overtakes Brown and goes equal with McNeil.

Callum McGregor has now won eight league titles with Celtic, and Sunday’s title triumph at Tynecastle was his second as captain of the club.

Each success is savoured by the Celtic skipper, and it’s the desire and determination to keep improving as an individual and as part of a successful Celtic team which continues to drive the midfielder.

It has been another exceptional season for McGregor, and there is the prospect of lifting further silverware this season, with Celtic taking on Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup final at the beginning of June.

That is something which the 29-year-old will only focus on when the fixture comes around. For now, he is enjoying the fact that Celtic are the champions of Scotland again and he is once more a winning Celtic captain.

Speaking after the 2-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle which sealed the Scottish Premiership title, McGregor said: “Honestly, I’m so, so proud. I’m so proud of this group of players and so proud of this club.

“The task at the start of every season is to win the league and I think we’ve done it in a better fashion that last season which tells you a lot.

“There’s still more to come from this group and that’s the beauty of it. We just keep working and keep going and we’ve still got a really strong end to the season and we have to keep working.”


The 2022/23 Premiership title represented Callum McGregor’s 19th major honour as a Celtic player. It’s an impressive haul for a player who first joined the club’s Youth Academy at the age of nine, and who was progressed through the ranks to become captain of the club.

This season he also passed the 400-appearance milestone – his appearance record currently stands at 415 – while he’s also netted 61 goals along the way.

Winning for McGregor has become a familiar part of his life as a Celt and it never ever gets old.

“This is why we do this job, to make the fans happy,” he said. “They give us so much support and happiness and we just want to return that to them.

'When the trophies are handed out, that’s where we have to be, alongside the supporters and we just need to keep getting better.'

“The fans have been so special all season. It’s such a shame only a small amount of them were actually here in person.

“That was for everyone connected to this club. Supporters, staff, players, everybody. It’s a really special day for this club and we have to enjoy this as much as we possibly can.”

 

He tries that pass a lot and doesn't often get it quite right. It's actually the one part of his game as a 6 that isn't quite up his standard imo. That one was absolutely perfect though.

 

He was ridiculously good yesterday. Hopefully he sees out his career with us, but surely his ability is commensurate with top 4 in the EPL?
