    There's not a chance he's in the same bracket as Maestro... not even remotely close for me anyway.

    People forget how strong the Scottish game was back then, not to mention that McStay played in some crap Celtic teams and on some even crappier pitches. And still managed to stand out above most other players on the pitch. AC Milan tried to sign him... and they were more or less the biggest club in the world at the time. That's a bit like Madrid or Man City wanting McGregor...

    I liked the dynamism between Calmac and McTominay tonight. One to break up the play and the other to keep the game flowing. Abildgaard and Calmac in a double pivot for us with either Hatate or O'Riley in front of them could be very interesting...

    Both very mobile aswell.

    Its the age old adage of not appreciating what you have, he is a fantastic player and captain. We moan if he has a bad game but it's only because his bar is so high.

    I don't like comparisons between generations, but I'd have him before Mcstay every day and I loved the maestro.

    As much as I love Mcgregor he is nowhere near McStay , different eras etc , pitches , team mates , but a McStay in this era would be far better , as he would be with a Mcgregor in his.

    All about opinions though.

    Yep, love mcgregor and it's a testament to his performances and standing that he's being compared with mcstay. But mcstay was a level above.
