Possibly but he's massively shat it this season..

Hid in the cup game and pulled out of every challenge and yet goes in for a couple of petulant, never winning ball's today inside 20 minute's, a couple of minute's apart..

We could easily improve on him this season..

He’s not been good enough this season, but we can say that about so many players. I’ve thought plenty times that his game has been majorly affected by Brown being an empty jersey beside him, along with the * tactics we’ve had from the management team. I don’t think we should want him gone and he’s done more than enough at the club to warrant a chance under the new manager.

As has been said before, there’s no chance he’s captain material.

Here's the brutal reality, we'll never go far in Europe with an abundance of Scottish players as starters, there's a reason the national team is pretty * bar a handful of players from the EPL, namely Tierney, McGinn & Robertson.

Bain, Taylor, Welsh, Ralston, Brown, CalMac, Christie, Turnbull, Johnston, Forrest, Griffiths.

It's time to accept most Scottish players are average at European level bar a select few, one of the biggest reasons we've failed to go far in Europe for over a decade now imo is because we've had too many Scottish starters who just aren't cut out for those levels consistently.

From the list of players I've mentioned, most will do a job domestically, but if we're wanting to get serious about challenging in Europe & Sevco fixtures again, then we need to start being ruthless and shifting most of these players either onto the bench, squad depth or just punt altogether.

Look at Sevco, they've went further in the EL two seasons in a row than we've achieved since 2004 and how many Scottish starters do they have? 2 maybe with McGregor & Jack, hardly any whilst we start far too many in the toughest fixtures who just aren't up to the job against that standard of opposition consistently. There's not one Scottish player we have who I can 100% say I want them to start in the toughest fixtures besides maybe Turnbull, but I'd rather see Turnbull at CM as opposed to CAM.

There has been time's he's covered for Broony but I think that's been over egged. I've seen Broong covering and standing up whereas McGregor's been hiding like *..

His quality has been majorly lacking in every department but it's the hiding and * it of proper challenges, no the nothing one's he was attempting today that have got my back up..

I've genuinely been disgusted with him on so many occasions..

He has had a poor season this year but for me he is never one of the two deeper sitting midfielders in a 4-2-3-1, simply because he cannot tackle and is too light weight for the role.

McGregors best spells for us have come as either playing the 10 position in 4-2-3-1 under Rodgers when he wanted a harder working midfield so would drop Rogic for him.

Or even on occasion when Sinclair’s form faded as a left side of the 3 in the same formation as long as you had an out an out winger on the right (Zenit at home comes to mind for that role). The other time he looked better was in 3-5-2 where he was relieved of as much defensive responsibility like post Christmas last season.

He had a short spell playing almost the Pirlo role where the team looked great but baring a great win against Leipzig we were mainly beating no one special.

If we are to be playing McGregor it needs to be in a more advanced role and bringing in one or two more natural CM at playing either box to box or deeper with the physicality to handle the role. Soro has the potential to be one but we need another and preferably with a bit of height about them to help out at set plays as all our team bar Ajer (who is terrible in the air) are pretty small.

Looks a shadow of the Mcgregor from the Brendan Rodgers era. Despite the ship lacking a rudder in a general sense, McGregor should be performing a lot better given his perceived ability.

never seen captain qualities in him personally. Needs Howe to breathe life back into him and reinvigorate him again.

Scotsman picked up on the rule change in which the ref should NOT have sent McGregor off after a goal was scored from the advantage he gave.

    Wholeheartedly agree with this.

He drops runners constantly and some of his biggest negative contributions this season have been in defensive situations. For example,Aberdeen away 3-3 gave away a penalty, Huns OG and yesterday.

McGregor has been played against his strengths all season long and its been frustrating to watch, playing passes from the halfway line forward because the centre halfs cannot do it good enough. Making the passes to places, he should be in.

Played like a hun anyway for majority of his career at us, think Rodgers coming in pricked his * ears up for a move down south.

He's been top drawer for his boyhood team this season anyway.

    Hopefully offski.

Agree. It's just predictable sentimentality from the usual apologists that has popularised the myth of him being deserving of the captaincy.
