Totally agree. He can look decent when we dominate possession and has no pressure on him to make 10 yard passes. But a central midfielder's job is to track, man-mark, tackle and generally put in an effort when we don't have the ball. You can't blame a manager for that. He is experienced enough to know his role in the team. If he needs Rodgers to guide him through games, then is he really the "outstanding" player some think he is?

For example, when a defender shites out a tackle and Johnny Hayes is through on goal, you’d expect him to burst a gut, track back and be the only guy in the team with the awareness to stop us going 2 behind?

Putting words in his mouth massively there, mate.

Tackling wise, all anyone can ask of McGregor is that he doesn’t shy away. All too often, he does, especially this season. Mitigating factor in Broony’s decline and lack of pace, but not an excuse for McGregor by any means.

That was tracking and marking and tackling mate. And he burst a * gut while doing so.

It’s not lost on me that people don’t appreciate the stuff he does when we can’t actually get to the stadium and watch him as well, he’s one of those guys who’s much better in person as well. When you can actually see his movement not just those parts that are highlighted.

He has been nowhere near his best but people are being * about him, and it’s not so much on here but if I see one more * on facebook calling him a Hun or that I’m going to * burst.

Mind before rodgers and brown was out for a while?
Calmac slipped in there and for me done very well. Might no have the grit and steel but he read the game and sniffed out the danger.

He can do it though. Remember the 2 nil game at their's last year and he chopped one of them ridiculously wiped him out inside the first 5 minute's and I thought yes, here we go..

He has chosen to back out of so many challenges this season it's frightening but..

Nah he is talented and we've wasted him this season. I rate him but he has been so far off it, that I can half accept in this shitshow of a season but add in future captain going missing in the trenches and challenge....and it's hard to stomach all in..

No every single player in the team has to be of the same mould as Roy Keane. McGregor is a creative player with good energy. It is someone beside him doing the dirty work and giving him the ball is what he needs. Hence why he looked very good when Brown was at his best. Unfortunately Brown has been miles off it this season, and instead of being dropped for Soro, both Lennon and Kennedy persisted with Brown. If Soro was in the team, we would be seeing a much better McGregor in my opinion. Flying into tackles isn't McGregor's game, and too many people get hung up on wanting every player to fly into tackles.

Yeah, that's a good example of the type of thing I'd like to see more of. I was pleasantly surprised to see him doing that.

He is more than capable. Which makes it even more infuriating. It's not his lack of ability, but his lackadaisical style off the ball that is frustrating. The amount of times I've watched him outside the box, standing alone, looking over his shoulder, not marking anyone, or following runs is inexcusable.

Even if you were to (wrongly) argue that it's not his job to tackle, at the absolute minimum he should be tracking. That is something that just about every professional midfielder should be able to do, regardless of ability.

I'd hope so considering he's the covering player in midfield when corners are taken. You can hardly blame the raft of other players who are in the attacking zone (mind you what use they are up there is a other debate).

He definetely * out of tackles, but as some have said that's just the way he's made up.
